During Worship Today… A yellow pew card is available for requesting prayers or membership information Hearing assistance devices for worship with user controlled volume area available from the ushers. See an usher for NRSV Bibles, large print order of service and hymns. Children’s bulletins and ’Rainbow Bags’ with quiet toys are located at the Children’s Worship Station in the narthex. Please return bags after worship. There is a staffed nursery for infants and toddlers at the north end of the building. There is a Prayer Room available for prayer and meditation at the north end of the building.

Save the date...October 16th is the Hog Roast Kickoff for the Truckload of Life Project. Tickets can be purchased in the Office. Volunteers are needed to help with the Hog Roast Dinner: preparing meal, buffet servers, table servers, set up, clean up. If you are available please sign up today at the information desk. Zion is in charge of drivers for Meals on Wheels in November. The sign up list is at the Information Desk if you want to sign up early. Zion’s Choirs vs. the rest of the congregation in a challenge hosted by the Zion Pipe Organ Task Force. For more information please stop by the Information Desk. Place your donation in the appropriate pipe (“congregation” or “choir” in the narthex). Funds to help refurbish the Zion pipe organ. Volunteers needed for a paint project at Zion. If interested, please contact Ryan our facilities and building manager or stop by the information desk today.

In Our Thoughts & Prayers Christian Sympathy to: Eldon and Jill Kathman and family. Jill’s brother John Swanson of Walnut Grove, Minnesota died on September 17. His funeral was September 21 in Walnut Grove. Wedding: Ellorie Martinson and Chad Liljequist exchanged marriage vows at Zion on October 1. Youth News Confirmation Classes This Weeks Topic: Exploring the Commandments Pt 2 Don’t forget your Bible, Handbook/Catechism and a pen/pencil!

Lutefisk Dinner Friday Oct 28 4:30-7:00PM Watch for ticket sellers in the narthex between services on Sunday mornings October 9,16, and 23. Tickets are $13 in advance and $14 at the door. You can also purchase them on the website or in the church office during the week. There will be a $1.00 additional charge for seconds with the proceeds going to the Food Shelf and the needy. Volunteer Needs: Many hands are needed to provide this delicious dinner. All new helpers are needed and welcome! Be here on Monday, October 24 at 6:30pm to make meatballs, or on Thursday, October 27 at 6:30 to peel potatoes and set up the dining room. Helpers will be needed the night of the dinner to serve and clean up.

Confirmation students are invited to acolyte for worship on Sundays. Parents may sign up their students at confirmation. Please note: If a student is unable to acolyte/serve on their scheduled date, please call the church office at 763-682-1245.

Sr High Summer Trip - July 27 - Aug 5, 2012 Come and be a part of the YHWH Experience at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp near Fort Collins, CO. This will be a great time to commune with God in new and relevant ways. Registration closes Nov 16.

Baptism Class The next Baptism Class will be Sunday, October 9 at noon. Please register at or by calling the church office. Coats for Kids The Salvation Army and Love INC—Big Woods will be collecting coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and blankets during October for kids in need. Bring your donations to the collection bin at Zion from October 9-25. Items will be distributed on Thursday, October 27, at the Buffalo Community Center. Vital Mission Forum At the December 2010 Annual Congregational Meeting, the congregation resolved to review and study the document titled “Toward A Vital Mission At Zion Luther Church” so that we may commit ourselves to work together to carry out the mission God has given to our congregation. The third of three open forums to discuss this action and document will be held at 11:45am on Sunday, October 23. Attention Basketball Players Looking for more individuals interested in playing basketball. M-W-F from 6-7am at the Discovery gym. Bring a white and black jersey/T-Shirt. Go to for more info Harvest of Hands Please donate your gently used sweaters to the Harvest of Hands Sweater Sale. The Sweater collection container is located in the Narthex. The White Elephant Sale is the perfect place to donate your unwanted items. We will collect your donations starting on October 31. There are kits to be completed at home which are located near the Information Desk. Embroidered towels are a big item at the sale. HOH has supplies for embroidered towels if you would like to complete some at home. Please contact Joy for supplies. Signup posters are located in the Narthex. Please visit often to see where you can contribute or volunteer. Coats for Kids Zion’s Social Ministry Team is partnering with the Salvation Army and other churches to collect and distribute new or slightly used children’s coats which will be distributed on 10/27 at the Buffalo Community Center. Please help keep a kid warm this winter with a donation of a coat, snow pants, mittens, or hats—a bin is provided near the Information Desk in the Narthex for this collection. Community Hymn Sing Dan and Karin Wickman will be leading the Fall Community Hymn Sing on Sunday, October 16 at 4 PM in the Carl Lindberg Ministry Center on the campus of Park View Care Center & Park Terrace Assisted Living in Buffalo. All are welcome to attend.
