Multifarious State of Mind I am halfway through thirty-two, The number of the legendary, Magic Johnson. I was born and raised in Anaheim, California. My life was very easy going, My parents gave me what I wanted, And I enjoyed a very fun childhood. Now I live in a faraway place. It is nothing like the city I grew up in. It’s richer; it’s prettier, and less interesting. I have fewer friends here. I left everything I knew and had to start over. I’ve always believed in the saying, “Ball is Life.” Basketball has been my passion ever since I was four. I’m good at it, I always had been, but When I came to Oxford, I wasn’t the best And that has been my goal ever since, To be the best. Because I want to be the best at everything. My deepest problem with people has not been my want to be the best. It was the time I was “attacked” for being a Muslim. Being a Muslim is very important to me, as I’m very religious. If being the best and being Muslim pushes me away from people, I don’t care, What matters to me is being who I want to be. Because if we conform to what people want, Then we are not our own person. I simply want to be my own person, Because I control my life. Not you. You’re not going to be the first person to make me happy. Because… I can’t rely on other people to make me happy. Any happiness I get, I make for myself.
Wow… I totally drifted off. Where was I? Oh yeah, It’ll make me happy to be the best.
