PROLOGUE Cultural - Regional - Artificial ChongQing City likes a color box which contains variety of types of culture and distinctive topography and kinds of architecture. My projects are all located in ChongQing, so that I can spend a lot of time experiencing the site. I believe that the concept of one design is closely tied to the place and to the designer's mind that stimulated by the information they got from the site and their memories. Thus, our responsibility is to dig it out and transform them into architectural language. By analogy to my experiments in drawings, my exploration in architecture is the process of observing and rethinking phenomenon, seeking the possibility of new places. In this portfolio, I selected five projects which focus on five different aspects: culture, structure, region, city and landscape which are represented by five colors - red, blue, yellow, black and green. Exploration on Architecture The way how we experience and perceive space is my major concern in architecture rethinking. THE REINVENTIONAL PROTOTYPE is dealing with the dilemma of an ancient town. It started with the villager’s desire to develop economy by the Internet. CITY LINK redefined Chinese way of planning. According to the basic activities that may happen in a house, I evaluated the Chinese industrial district and re-designed them into landscape products which provide various possibilities to humane settlement and working environment. Emotional expression of the matter, as well as the tectonic, is also an aspect of place-making. ART WORK, ART HOME aimed at the feeling and reaction of a residence, in order to humanize the working condition into open communities. It re-interpreted an old factory into an active art studio for the newcomers and original citizens. I also look into the methods of constructing places for certain people. RUNNING BRIDGE is a stadium design for local people. It managed to make a place humble to the Nature and friendly to the People. The idea and detail design was based on rethinking spatial characters of the local settlements and worship places, and re-interpreting symbols in typical sports buildings. VERTICAL VILLAGE explored the fields influenced by the existed and their continuous memory. In the memorial culture, I created a new hometown for the residents in downtown in modern architecture language. The remained ancient buildings were attractors of the new terrains and communities were organized by high-rise. Exploration on Computer Graphics In order to obtain a better understanding of the connection between people and place, I turned into the area of the art of CG, an area where I believe more initiative expressions on this topic can be discussed. Digital drawing such as rendering and 3D model perspective can catch scenes and record the basic information of the background settings. It can also figure the structure of relationship, which is not concrete but abstract. By observing typical phenomenon and thinking the relationship formation as well as the internal motivation, I made digital renderings to interpret the complex appearances in each work.

REINVENTIONAL PROTOTYPE Activated old town with Internet logistics service Excellent Prize: The 4th "CUC CUP" National University Student Architectural Design Competition Studio Work, ChongQing University From September 2015 to November 2015 Site Location: Gongtan Ancient Town, ChongQing Individual Work Because of the declining of water transport in the economic system, the agriculture development and natural resources in the area are not as good as them in the old days. Although transfer to the tourism, the ecological condition of Gongtan town still gradually decreased because it is difficult to make up the ecological loss in external factors. So the protection of the environment and development in improving the quality of life of residents are needed at the same time. That's what the Internet World can do.

Site Element

This kind of building, which successfully gets rid of the original construction, has a high cultural level, known as the living fossil of Chinese culture.

The most basic characteristic of the Diaojiaolou is that the house built on the ground and the other three sides which are supported by columns are vacant.

The repeated triangle rhythms enhance the effect of elevations, bringing people feeling of beauty.

Inn & Restaurant Ferry B (Design Site): Tourists Ferry It is located in the middle of the town. Tourists can have choice to visit the place they interest. And it is the main intersection of the whole town.

Ferry C: Cargo Wharf In the past, ferries in Gongtan town is a big cargo transfer station in the Wujiang River Basin even in the Yangtze River.

t is difficult to make up for the economy loss by traditional ways. So the local people need to update in the Internet era.

Internet can promote economic development and production, then bring people a convenient life.

The original residence is kept for new possibility.

More entrance, more function.

Bridge is designed to link the variety of elevation and interior space.

The site is rich in elevation. Design should be considered to adapt that.

We can always share information!

Bottom Space is fully utilized to create communication.

We are so distant! Extraction of elements are used in suspending platform.

The original houses are distributed on the platform, and the exchange is inconvenient.

The conditions of complicated topography and great difference of elevation are the factors which are carefully considered. It's about 30 meters between the entrance of the residence to the lowest part of motor way. As an industrial factory area, the site has many heritages. And the people living in the site has a feeling of attachment to the home. Moreover the development around the site will bring activities of artists and workers to refresh the old district.

City Area Design

Renaissance of railway track Studio Work, ChongQing University From May 2016 to July 2016 Site Locations: South Train Station, ChongQing Individual Work From a macroscopic perspective, it is found in the ChongQing industrial district that residences are crowded, public space is dispersed and industrial remains is in low utilization. Therefore the concept of city space is connection among industrial heritage area and public system and green park, which are depending on regional and internal routes through the whole area. To plan the middle of the public and keep the old railway track can be the introduction of Fine Arts Institute and creative industry park. Thus they eventually form a city active link.

Commercial Complex It's the connection between the traffic of the center park. Tourists can go shopping and have leisure time there.

Train Station The main intersection to provide transportation services for both inside residents and outside passengers.

Industry Art Center Office and other services can provide high volume rate of construction.

Exhibition Hall The big span structure of factory can offer ample space for art exhibition.

Industry Park There are abandoned tracks retained in industrial Park for variety of facilities.

22

22

Detail Perspective

New Transportation Complex Rather being a mono-functional construction which is being use only at transportation, the station aim to be more communal, more related to citizens' every day life. Hence, function like taking shortcut, leisure, and also retail are implanted into the building, aiming at more frequent use of not only the building, but also the site itself.

Reborned Railway The tracks are flourish with landscape and facilities. Civil activities turn the site into a vibrant park, instead of a lifeless Industrial space. This time the park truly becomes a landmark, not because of the symbolic figure, but because its tight relation to the urban life of the citizen.

RUNNING BRIDGE Medium gymnastic for public Studio Work, ChongQing University From March 2016 to May 2016 Site LocationďźšLongxing Industrial District, ChongQing Teammate: Mengru Li, Wei Wang. Position: General Structure, Structural Detail, Modeling, Perspective The project is in a site which should be a sports venue to provide the chances for residents. On the contrary, the stadium is the only one be able to provide a large competitions for the entire people who lived in this industrial area. In order to change the current situation that the so called "civil architecture" actually lack of public use, landscape is not only embedded into the site but also the building itself. With the hope that even in days there is without game, the building and the site could be used, which becomes a part of the urban life.

23

23

Site Analysis

A large number of residents around the site, students, office workers, tourists, etc. will be the main crowd to the stadium. Although making a city sculpture can help enhance the emerging area influence, the public just can enjoy watching the game for a short time. The stadium becomes a short-term and simple container for local people. The wide-scale design is lack of vitality and humanization, especially when there is no match. People around the site can directly enter the stadium through soil-structure cover to enjoy sports. People in multiple elevations can have different sights, thus they can be stimulated to participate the activities. The site connects to commercial complex, sports ground and park. During the days without competition, the stadium can be intersection and a real local sports center with low profile figure. And place can shape a kind of attractive sports culture.

The landscape and contour are important elements which inspired the streamline figure of building. Contrasting to Formalism, the modern form can bring vitality to the site.

Using repeated Units can reduce the cost of stadium. The building should give back the sport ground to citizens and not demand too much funds back by holding commercial activities.

The Olympic-standard stadium is a great work which leave the unapproachable impression to people. A building which is closed to residents can be a good conversation platform.
