Year of Faith Prayer

Safe Environment

Prayer for Priestly Vocations

Safeguard The Children

Father, in every generation you provide ministers of Christ and the Church. We come before you now, asking that you call forth more men to serve our Archdiocese in the ministerial priesthood. Give us priests who will lead and guide your holy people gathered by Word and Sacrament. Bless us with priestly vocations so that we can continue to be a truly Eucharistic Church, strengthened in our discipleship of Jesus Christ, your Only Son. Raise up, we pray, men who are generous in their service, willing to offer their lives and all their gifts for your greater glory and for the good of your people. We make our prayer in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen

The establishment of the Office of Safeguard the Children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the formation of Safeguard the Children Parish Committees in the parishes were mandated by Cardinal Roger Mahony in 2002. The Office of Safeguard the Children assists these permanent Parish Committees in implementing child sexual abuse prevention education, Safe Environment policies, procedures and resources. protecting/ for more information.

Did You Know? Daycare centers, nurseries, schools should have open door policies Parents and guardians have the primary responsibility for protecting their children from all potential harm. When choosing a nursery, daycare center or school, parents should inspect the building and grounds to make sure there are no areas where children play or work that are “off limits to parents. Such facilities should have a policy that welcomes parents to visit the center or school without prior appointment.

Hermits of St. Giles Greetings to You, St. Paul, in 1Thess: 5:17 says we are "to pray without ceasing." If this is truly the case then there must be a greater reality to this request. Prayer is genuinely the source of our communion and union with God. Prayer then, goes beyond an act of our intellect or our actions. It is rather, a deep state of constant awareness of the presence of God, dwelling with Him in all places and all times no matter what the outward activities of our body or our mind. Prayer is not a reward for our good works, but rather God gifts us with grace through our prayer to do these good works. So it is wonderful to commune with God as much as possible through our day. Our relationship with Him will grow deeper. Grace will flow through us to do the good works He asks of us. We will then be inspirations for others we meet. Have yourself a blessed week Your brother in Christ, Mark Hermits of St. Giles
