Safe Environment —–——— Safeguard The Children ——–—— The establishment of the Office of Safeguard the Children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the formation of Safeguard the Children Parish Committees in the parishes were mandated by Cardinal Roger Mahoney in 2002. The Office of Safeguard the Children assists these permanent Parish Committees in implementing child sexual abuse prevention education, Safe Environment policies, procedures and resources. Click on http://www.archdiocese.la/protecting/ for more information. All volunteers working with or around children must be fingerprinted through the Archdiocese and certified in the Safeguard the Children Program Protecting God’s Children. Information for both fingerprinting and Safeguard Classes are listed below. The Virtus training must be updated every 4 years. However, instead of the 3-hour Protecting God's Children program, people can recertify by completing the 1.5 hour Keeping the Promise Alive program. Fingerprinting does not need to be repeated.” For questions, call Dea Boehme at (805) 390-1260 or OLAsafeguard@ola-vta.org.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and during this month we will be highlighting some of the efforts our parish has taken to make OLA and Ventura a safer place for children and young people. During this month, we ask your prayers for all children and for those adults who especially are active in their roles as “protectors of children.” Child Abuse Prevention Blessing Gracious and Loving God, We ask You to bless these Your holy people who have participated in the Church’s efforts to help stop child sexual abuse. We thank you for opening their hearts to Your call to be the “ears, eyes and voice of children and young people” everywhere. Continue to give them the vision and grace needed to fulfill the special commitments that each of them has made to making their homes, churches, schools, communities and world a safer place for all God’s Children. We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen .

Support Archdiocese’s ‘Keep Kids Safe’ Campaign April is national Child Abuse Prevention Month and “Keep Kids Safe” month in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. It is most appropriate that these events take place during the Easter Season, since there is no better time to celebrate the protection of our most valuable gift from God — our children. During this week, children in Catholic schools and Religious Education programs in the Archdiocese will wear bright blue ribbon-shaped stickers that say, “Keep Kids Safe.” The stickers are part of a campaign to highlight the Archdiocese’s extensive abuse prevention and education programs for children and adults. For more information about the campaign call your parish or school office or contact (213) 637-7508 or firstname.lastname@example.org

————— Hermits of St. Giles —————— Greetings to You, "Who of us by worrying can add a day to our life?" Matt 6:27 This statement given to us by Christ Jesus can have profound implications to our life if we choose to let its meaning take root within us. When we worry, we in a way, insult God, for it means we still lack that complete trust that God is calling us to. Worrying can have a profound effect on our health as well. Worrying adds a stress upon our body and spirit by stealing valuable energy our body needs to stay in balance. Make a conscious decision each day when you rise from sleep to become more and more aware when worrying tries to make its home within and in its place fill it with trust, the trust that comes from God alone. Have a most blessed week. Love and prayers to you, Bro. Mark Hermits of St. Giles , 647-9089, hermitsofstgiles.org The Hermits of St. Giles is a lay association of disabled men and women who are homebound because of chronic illness and disability. Their ministry to the church is to offer their sufferings for all through prayer.
