Prayer for Priestly Vocations Father, in every generation you provide ministers of Christ and the Church. We come before you now, asking that you call forth more men to serve our Archdiocese in the ministerial priesthood. Give us priests who will lead and guide your holy people gathered by Word and Sacrament. Bless us with priestly vocations so that we can continue to be a truly Eucharistic Church, strengthened in our discipleship of Jesus Christ, your Only Son. Raise up, we pray, men who are generous in their service, willing to offer their lives and all their gifts for your greater glory and for the good of your people. We make our prayer in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen

The Pastoral Letter

During the first week of April we will be finishing the painting of the church which will require us to bring in heavy equipment which cannot be removed until the job is done. Therefore, from Monday, April 1- Friday, April 5 there will be no 6:30am Mass and the 8:00am Mass will be held in Assumption Hall. Morning confessions will be held in Hurley Hall and there will be no evening confessions during that week. We will also be resurfacing the school and church parking lot at the same time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

“Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised.” Happy Easter! Alleluia! Our long awaited day which we have we have been preparing to celebrate during the season of Lent and Holy Week has finally arrived! As we celebrate Easter, we are reminded of the reason for our Lord’s mission to save us from our sins with His victory over death. However, like the event of the Resurrection this is not an event that we keep to ourselves. Like the followers of Jesus during the time of the Resurrection, we do not have the benefit of witnessing this event. Yet, we do have the benefit of being blessed by the event. We are reminded of the Lord’s command as He shares the joy of His victory with all of us, that we must spread the Gospel message to all the nations. As we celebrate this special day, let’s be reminded that it is a mystery we repeatedly celebrate each Sunday in the commemoration of our Sunday Mass. But this mystery is a belief that takes its life, when we share the life of Christ, His eternal life that He gives to us with others. As we reflect upon this gift, it can be easy for us to think that this eternal life is something that we live and remember only after we die. However, eternal life is something that we live right now when we receive our Baptism. So as we celebrate Easter, let us be appreciative of the gift that our Lord has given to us. Let us realize that we don’t just thank Him for a day, we thank Him with our lives for the life that He has given to us!

Happy Anniversary!

Alex & Laura Flores 15 Years on March 28

To list your anniversary, please email by the Friday of the week before you wish it published.

Take care and God bless, Fr. Steve Correz

Release of the Files?????????????

Openings are available for the 2013-2014 school year.

Complying with a retired federal judge's order to edit priest personnel files intended for public release, attorneys for the Los Angeles Archdiocese are making the specified edits according to the judge's order. The judge's order was the result of a process that plaintiff attorneys and the Archdiocese agreed would be accepted by all parties involved. It is important to note that the judge's order specified the edits in part due to what he said were demonstrable positive changes the Archdiocese had already implemented to its policies and procedures in reporting abuse to authorities and in training personnel and children in abuse prevention techniques. Much of the information in the files is decades old and has already been the subject of in-depth coverage in the press and was disclosed by the Archdiocese in the 2004 Report to the People of God.

Contact Susie Delaney at 642-7198 ext. 213 for further information.

The Raffle Grand Prize is a $2,500.00 American Express Gift Card and this year we have a 2nd prize of a $500 American Express Gift card. If you haven’t mailed in your tickets yet, you will have a chance as OLA students will be selling raffle tickets after all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your continued support of our school. Our Lord appeared to St. Faustina to remind us that “« mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy.” Pope John Paul II officially made the first Sunday after Easter Divine Mercy Sunday – April 7, 2013, this year, and designated a plenary indulgence could be received for all those who properly prepare for our Lord’s mercy. Preparation: (1) celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy on the first Sunday after Easter; (2) be truly sorry for your sins and go to confession (eight days before, on, or eight days after Divine Mercy Sunday); (3) receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday; (4) venerate an image of Divine Mercy (hangs in our church); and (5) perform acts of mercy through words or deeds. Graces: complete pardon of the soul; forgiveness of sins; and forgiveness of punishment due.

Padre Steve Correz

Feast of Divine Mercy

Oración por las Vocaciones Sacerdotales

Sacred Heart Church, 10800 Henderson Rd., Ventura Sunday, April 7th - 1:30 p.m.

Amen

A bilingual Mass will be concelebrated by Fr. Daniel O’Sullivan and Fr. Marlon Beof, OAR. Following Mass, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary will be prayed.
