Parish News —–————— Weekly Offerings —————– Thank you for your continuing support of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. For the fiscal year July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011, our parish budget calls for $22,232.00 to be donated weekly at the Sunday collection. The collection for Sunday, January 2, 2011 was $19,627.10 in addition to approximately $1,097.40 which is donated weekly in January via automatic debit. The collection is not only used for operating expenses each week, but also for any ongoing repair work, upgrades, etc. to our parish facility. Welcome News! The IRA Charitable Rollover passed. On the afternoon of December 17, 2010, the President signed into law The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. This bill restores the IRA Charitable Rollover for 2010 and permits its use in all of 2011. If you own an IRA and are over age 70½, you may transfer up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to Our Lady of the Assumption because we are a qualified charity. You may not have taken your 2010 required IRA distribution and may reduce your income taxes with an IRA charitable rollover. Even if you have taken your required IRA distribution, you still may find the IRA charitable rollover a very convenient way to make a year-end gift.

Now the excitement of our Christmas Season has passed. Christ Jesus is in our lives. He does long to be intimately involved with all aspects of our life. It takes an open heart. It takes a letting go on our part. Of all the Ill conceived notions of what we believe our life to be about. And a full on trust of what God wants for us. Deep down we know this to be the ultimate truth. Let us begin each day to reach union with God. To become another Christ and our world to find healing. Have a blessed week.
The Hermits of St. Giles is an association of disabled men and women who are homebound because of chronic illness and disability. Their ministry to the church is to offer their sufferings for all through prayer.

———— Toy Drive Thank You!! ———— A heartfelt thank you to all who donated toys to the 2010 toy drive! So many children in need received toys because of your generosity. At least 500 kids awaited us in Mecca and got to choose a toy on December 11th. We also provided toys to the local Knights of Columbus for their annual Christmas dinner, Tender Life Maternity Home, all the children at the Kingdom Center, Catholic Charities, One Stop, and families from St. Vincent DePaul!
