The distance from alveolar crest to sinus floor should be measured radiographically prior to surgery. The site is prepared with twist drills in sequence to within 1mm short of the sinus floor. "DASK 1" is introduced into the osteotomy and the cortical bone of the sinus floor is carefully removed using light apical pressure. As the “DASK1 “goes through the bone it is possible to feel the drill give. The “DASK 1 “is then removed without any further preparation. It is also possible to partially prepare the cortical bone with the DASK 1 and then up-fracture using a matched osteotome.

The recommended technique is to remove bone slowly using pressure on one side of the drill at a time , gently rocking the drill then removing and checking. As soon as the lining shows through move the pressure to another part of the circumference to avoid perforating the lining. Once the sinus lining shows through in a full circle the core can be elevated *Washing method: Remove contaminants by placing the drill in Sodium Hypochlorite (5% NaClO solution) for 15~20 minutes, then rinse with flowing water before washing with an ultrasonic cleaner (50~60 Hz) filled with distilled water for 10 minutes.

Lateral Approach (Sinus Elevation) Grind-out technique

Tilt the DASK3,4 at 45 degree against bone wall, and drill with a pivoting action to create a circular hole.

If the lateral wall needs to be a expanded, Grind and move wit DASK 3,4 simultaneously as shown above.

Wall-off technique

â– Thin wall

In case of thin wall, grind up to only bottom line(1.5mm) on DASK 5 carefully in order not to perforate membrane on the other side.

â– Thick wall

Grind the lateral wall with pivoting action until the sinus membrane shows through on the other side. After detaching a bony island which was made by using DASK 5, keep it separate for covering over the hole after bone grafting.

In case of thick wall, you can grind up to upper line(3.0mm) on DASK 5 carefully in order not to perforate membrane on the other side.

Fill the bone graft material (OSTEONTM Sinus) into the sinus cavity
