THE GREAT ADVANCE In Activity

by Zane Hunker

How will the future interact with us? The term activity encompasses many different aspects of life. We are active socially, physically and economically. Our activities aim to satisfy both need and want, and to provide as well as to be provided for. While fairness can be a subjective matter, efficiency is a much less ambiguous aim. Machines create efficiency as well as upward mobility through the opportunities provided by an economy that utilizes, yet still improves the systems of the great advance. The water carrier becomes the plumber, the messenger becomes the network engineer, and the village idiot becomes the blogger. It all starts when the dreamer becomes the inventor. Imagination gives birth to the great advance.

Labor

Hi, My name is TGA 301.

I am a robot designed to do your life’s many simple, non-subjective, repetitive and time consuming tasks. However, I lack in areas of affection, creativity and opinion. You may offer my services to other humans in exchange for money or goods and services for yourself. All that TGA 301 desires in return is the proper service and maintenance required for continued normal operation.

Personal Computing Just 3 devices will satisfy all your work, school, entertainment and social needs. You’ll need only a television, rolltop, and cell phone. No longer will these objects have to work apart from one another. They will now be able to work together as a team. Each player has it’s own strengths and complements the functions of each of the other devices on the team. The cell phone can be the remote control for the television and laptop. The scroll-like rollout screen laptop, or rolltop can be the keyboard for the television and cell phone. The television can display picture and video from the cell phone and rolltop.

Health Access to health screenings is important for everyone. Like air, such a universal necessity should be easy to access. No longer will a checkup have to be a scheduled, invasive, time consuming event. The days of taking off your clothes and being touched for nonsurgical appointments are over. Now all you have to do is stop by a stylish, automated screening booth that scans your body in seconds. If further medical intervention is needed then a doctor appointment is scheduled. Otherwise advice and prescriptions are quickly issued and you’re on your way.
