The master plan is focusing and solving the problem of the main "rounds" (rondas: the main roads connects the old town from the north to the new town) as a strong vehicular traffic route that picks up the traffic of the old part of the city and redistributes it by widening the street, introducing restrictions to slow down the car pace and prioritize the pedestrian. Moreover, we are unifying the existing public spaces from both sides of the rounds (rondas). Through this action, we are generating the transversal connections. Also, with the same language of the material we are unifying the area through the vegetation, street furniture, lighting, paving and etc. Then in Sant Antoni round (ronda) where we try to balance the quality and quantity of public spaces on each side of the round's (ronda's), introducing the potentials that we are proposing from each plot: from the old (the "surprise" effect generated by the streets) and in the new city (the width of the street that allows the development of various public activities). We also found it interesting to work with interstitial spaces as a transition between public and private space where a bond is generated and enriches outdoor life. We add urban furniture that allows flexible use of the designed spaces with the aim of adapting to varied activities and functions that could be provided.

ENERGY ON THE SITE

Working in the forest of Vigo, Spain, a territory where have its own characteristic allowed us to discover that the place has strong natural energy which stands out such as, the sunlight, moonlight, wind, water, soil, rain and also fire. According to the record, there was a big wildfire spreading throughout the forest of Vigo in October 2017, which have caused great damages to the urbanisation. Starting with finding the critical points and risky polygons of wildfire by understanding the topography. We also found the water irrigation line since there is a great number of rain waters each year. We used water irrigation as a tool by proposing to extend the specific watershed in those critical points. Recuperating these places to be the hotspot of biodiversity by putting aquatic vegetations which attract more animal species in the sense of ecotones. Also, we proposed different kinds of forest management activities, for example, cutting, grazing and prescribed burning in particular zones. Finally proposed ecological pathway between urbanization passing all forest activities.

The project located at Delta de Llobregat, near El Prat airport. The delta should function as where the fresh water meets salt water. Now the delta is facing problems such as sea level rises, shore erosion and saltwater intrusion but on the other hand, the place is filled with biodiversity that works as a green buffer for Barcelona city centre. The site is a combination of 2 completely different aspects regarding users which are freshwater marshland where is protected the natural area and urban beach where is accessible by cars. The intention of the project is to create gradient limits between natural area and urban beach and proposed an alternative pathway inside the pinus pines forest connecting to existing natural marshland in order to reduce human impacts to the natural beach area where are facing an erosion problem. Also, the designed pathway is focusing on each ecotones happening in the whole ecosystem which are between sandy beach and dunes, dunes and pines forest, pine forest and agriculture in order to make the complete ecological route that for the visitors to see the whole delta ecosystem.

Water Scheme

Master Plan Firstly according to the site context, we found a grey infrastructure between two urbanisations which is a highway, where is an obstacle between two sides of the city. Then we found two empty green spaces that have the potential to connect the two urbanisations together. Therefore, our strategies are to connect these two urbanization by proposing a new main pathway that start from Parco Piraghetto on the urban side, Passing Parco Via Perlan 8 different platforms in between the urbanization which can be realized as permeable surfaces and some water basins that can absorb the water from the uses of urbanization and when raining. Each of 8 platforms has different uses and characters according to the existing surrounding of places for example; the one that is in between houses can be used as a plaza for people gathering in an intimate scale, the one where is next to school can be used as a playground and other kid’s facilities. 8 platforms are linked by the new pathway which will be a new main water canal that will collect the water from the agriculture area and irrigate to the man canal of the city and understand also as an ecological corridor connecting the natural and urban part of the city. The function of the proposed pathway is including a pathway for people, bicycle lanes and canal where we proposed a diversity of vegetation that related to water. On one side of the proposed pathway wherever connect with proposed platforms, will be basin or floodable park which can collect the water and another side will be green areas with different functions such as sports facilities, playground, vegetable garden and bicycle parking.

Rimini is a city in the north of Italy known to be the hot spot especially in the summer season for its beaches and the tourist dynamics that has developed. This tourist engine covers almost all the dynamics of the city so everything revolves around the coast. However, all these activities carried out by the people of the place and the tourists could not continue without taking into account the basic needs of the human being. In this case, the city of Rimini is very concerned about the beach and the salt water of the ocean, forgetting that the human being needs fresh water to live. In the case of the city, the most important water reserve comes from the Marecchia river, which accumulates fresh water in the amalgamation area (groundwater deposit). The project proposes studying the Marecchia valley and managing the use of fresh water in a more beneficial way. First, we identify the work area that has a cone shape that expands on the coast and in its barycenter also, you can find the aquifer deposit that feeds the city. Second, the Marecchia and Uso rivers are identified with their characteristics of flood and vulnerability to generate channels that distribute the better homogeneity of the water throughout the cone, the priority it will be to accumulate fresh water in the deposit of the aquifer and to soak the entire territory with water so that it defends the salinity of the coast. Third, this strategy will be complemented by the use of lagoons for directing water from basins to strategic points. This new backbone of water will be reflected by the new vegetation that may grow. In this way, the cone area prior to entering the city will work beneficially, which will show a different landscape than the coast, with the aim of introducing you to Rimini in a new way.
