Key facts

Founded in 1900, Burgundy School of Business is a leading teaching and research Business School and belongs to the network of top French academic institutions in management. Burgundy School of Business is located in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, in the heart of Europe.

Burgundy School of Business, member of the exclusive club of century-old management schools, recently celebrated its 110th anniversary. More than a century of existence during which the School, today a major actor in entrepreneurial management, has always adapted to changes in the world by relying on strong and stable values such as Openness, Responsibility and Creativity. Thanks to unrelenting innovation the School has today become a reference in management in the wine industry or in experimental economics. This innovation is also reflected in the global strategic alliance with Oxford Brookes University Business School, which is a first in French Business Schools.

Academic Profile • A faculty of 60 professors • 35% international professors • 250 experts (professors, consultants and company executives) • 1 Corporate Research Center (CEREn) • 10 degree programmes in management taught in English or in French.

Focus

Member of the highly selective French “Conférence des Grandes Écoles” (Board of Engineering and Business Schools), Burgundy School of Business is recognised by thousands of companies in France and around the world for its high-quality education.

Accountability at all levels Burgundy School of Business has always invested considerable energy and resources in the accompaniment of its students thanks to tutorship, coaching and a pedagogical style that allows students to personalize their academic careers. Responsibility in terms of commitment to others is practised on a daily basis through the involvement of students in associations, in particular humanitarian associations and reinforced by the PAC (Learning through community work), which was created in 2005. The CSR Chair (Corporate Social Responsibility) launched in 2006 and the Microfinance Chair created in 2009 perpetuate these commitments.

International Perspective

The School’s historical façade has been kept since it was built in 1900

• 1,700 students - 500 international students coming from 50 nationalities • An international network of 8,000 alumni • 60 visiting professors from our partner universities • 135 international academic partners • 45 “Double degree” partnerships set up in 10 countries • French language classes offered to all international students Burgundy School of Business

02

A History of openness, diversity and multicultural experience As early as 1916 Burgundy School of Business opened its doors to mixed students comprising almost 20% of young women. The international adventure was greatly encouraged and facilitated by the arrival on the campus of the first American students in 1919, and by the award of scholarships for study in foreign countries in 1922. Burgundy School of Business was a pioneer in international studies; it was the first French management school to send its students to China, in 1965. This was also the year when it signed its first, and today, its longest-standing partnership, with a foreign university (Hochschule Pforzheim).

The creation of an innovative model of European Business School Since 2008, Burgundy School of Business has been working towards the School of tomorrow by developing a unique model of global alliance with Oxford Brookes University Business School. This major milestone in the history of the School will lead to the creation of a veritable Franco-British Business School, based on two sites (Oxford and Dijon) with shared programmes, faculty, students, relationships with businesses and the same culture. With a total of 4,500 students and 150 international professors, this alliance is a new model for Europe.

To transform students’ passion for art and culture into a practical and professional approach providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully carry out innovative cultural projects on a national and international level.

CAREER OPPORTUnITIES The programme prepares students for managerial positions in organisations and businesses in the fields of performing arts (music, theater, dance…), heritage (museums, historical sites…), cultural tourism and creative industries (film, architecture, design, media…).

“The experience of living in Paris and learning about culture and administration is unique! Our teachers are not only academic but also professionals in the field. There is preparation for the job market / interviews and there are visits to theatres and museums to see how they work. This is great because it makes the course more "real life", “concrete” and less academic. I am sure that this course was the best choice for me because it is a substantial experience in culture, French life and the world of work !” Beatriz REINGENHEIM (Brazil), 2007-2008
