Landscape Architecture The design is located at Vanke Jiuduhui district plaza in Nanjing. It is a competition proposal for Vanke Group, aiming to remodel a small-scale garden within a residential area. The competition organizer requested concrete as the main material for this design, therefore, I designed the landscape structure with a combination of polished concrete and wood. The structure is divided into two levels vertically, and they are connected by staircases and slides. Rest and seating space is also incorporated within the design. Wood elements mainly played as load-bearing components, and traditional Chinese mortise-tenon system are applied in the construction. Various plants, including rhododendrons, bamboo are placed within this landscape.

Hillside Architecture Department The site is located in the campus of Nanjing University of Technology. It is mostly hilly topography, and the building is placed on a hillside. Because of the diversity of surrounding natural environment, I proposed a design with hierarchy along the terrain, minimizing the disturbance on site.As a result, the overall building complex shows a sense of scatter and hierarchy. On the exterior of the building, I used smooth concrete and zigzag windows to create a simple but sophisticated look. The interior of the building is mostly smooth concrete, creating a peaceful learning ambience for the students. At the same time, because the hierarchy of the terrain, level changes within the building become rich and interesting. Load-bearing system is applied to the whole complex, and parallel walls are largely used. At the entrance courtyard, I designed a large staircase, for better social interaction and gathering.

Fu Zi Miao Performing Art Center This site is located in Fu Zi Miao in Nanjing scenic area, adjacent to the Qinhuai River, surrounded by both modern architecture and classical architecture. Therefore, I mixed the two different architectural languages into my design. There are two distinguished components in the design, traditional and modern blocks. In the former block, most of the public activity programs are placed. A traditional element at the roof is the highlight in this part. The use of polygons on the roof is reflected in the courtyard. In the modern block houses a large theater. White polished concrete is largely used on the exterior of the building, while warm wooden elements are decorated around opening areas. Traditional elements such as Chinese bonsai, ponds are used in the interior of the building, to render a tranquil oriental atmosphere. A semi-outdoor lounge area on the second floor connects two parts of the building, and special attention is paid to a lighting design at its roof. The structure of the building is mostly a load-bearing system.

Office Highrise The design is located in Nanjing Hexi CBD, surrounded by science and technology park and modern government buildings. In order to fit the high-rise office building into the surrounding environment, I used a simple form and intricate facade to make it interesting. Ramps are used on the faรงade to connect floor levels; and on the outside, a thin layer of perforated metal panels are used for privacy and shading. In addition, diverse vegetation are planted to make the whole building have an ecological appeal. Short shrubs are mainly used on the faรงade due to stronger wind at higher levels of the building. The building base has an atrium and a roof garden. From the internal courtyard, there is a circular ramp that allows people to climb to the leisure space on roof garden. Visitors can access part of the base, while only staffs can access the tower. Water collection and conservation are considered in sustainable design process.
