www.a3arts.org Year Round Guide to the Visual Arts in the Greater Ann Arbor Area

e d ui

G 1 s 1 t 0 2 r A 2010

Come and Explore our Arts Community The Greater Ann Arbor Area is rich in arts and culture. From tiny Manchester to lively Ypsilanti, our region is filled with artists and artisans. In just this small county, you can find nationally known jewelers and painters, fiber artists and sculptors with years of experience, emerging craftspeople waiting to be discovered, and energetic students beginning their careers. And of course, that’s just scratching the surface of what awaits you when you begin to explore our arts community. Let this booklet be your guide. We’ve arranged it alphabetically by community, starting with some of the artistic clusters in Ann Arbor and then moving through our area’s main population centers: Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Milan, Saline, and Ypsilanti. Our thumbnail sketches offer just a peek into the creativity you’ll find if you choose to visit the artists’ studios, art galleries, and museums listed here. For more information, be sure to visit www.a3arts.org. You’ll find more details about artists and arts venues as well as a calendar listing cultural events taking place throughout the year. The ArtsGuide is produced by The Arts Alliance as part of our program to develop the creative economy of this region.

150 South Fifth Ave. Suite 301, Ann Arbor Mi 48104 dda@a2dda.org www.a2dda.org For a downtown map go to www.a2dda.org/downloads/walkmap0408.pdf Ann Arbor has a special identity around the world as an innovative and creative place, where education is lifelong and the new economy is flourishing. Downtown is the vibrant heart of this unique community, and is packed with museums, concert halls, galleries, and movie houses, plus fabulous retail, a cornucopia of restaurants, and special events all year round. Because our artists and arts venues are so widely dispersed, we have organized our listings into 4 different sections: Downtown, West Side, Kerrytown/North Main Street and University of Michigan (U-M).
