Effects of Global Climate Change Acting on Radish Seeds

Research by Yovanni, Arturo, Irving, and Herodes 9th grade Biology Research Project, May 2018

Introduction Human needs such as burning fossil fuels for cars, factories, and electrical are the cause of global climate change. Global climate change biggest impact is the ocean.

Research Question How does global climate change affect radish growth

Hypothesis If global climate change increase then the growth of radishes wold increase

Methods Dependent Variable The radish’s height

Independent Variable A heat lamp

Length of Study 10 days

Control Group 10 radish seeds with soil, and water in a petri dish

Treatment Group 10 radish seeds with soil, and water in a petri dish with a heat lamp in front of it

Pre Data

Collected by measuring the height of the radish on the first day

Post Data

Collected by measuring the height of the radish on the final day

Treatment

Control

Results Difference between pre and post for the control group: -11.5 Difference between pre and post data for treatment group: -42.3 The treatment group had a bigger increase than the control group we were trying to prove

Discussion My hypothesis was proven, the radish in the front of the lamp grew rapidly. Global climate change made the radish’s growth rapid. This happened because sunlight is one of the radishes need. Burning fossil fuels would increase global climate change. If global climate change increases, the radish population would also increase. Humans are a major cause to global climate change and they eat radishes. I can pursue on how to prevent global climate change. Humans should continue researching on anthropogenic impacts because it will impact them on some way.
