PARK from page 4 people could have trails throughout the area. “Over the course of years, the Trails Association has been at times very politely knocking on doors and showing their neighbors maps and saying, ‘You’ve got a public-private right of way on your property and you’ve got it fenced.’ Over the years, they became at times more forceful writing letters saying, ‘You need to take the fences down.’” The association’s web site, palmcityfarmstrails.com, states that the original developer, the Palm Beach County Land Company, platted portions of the land for public roadways, and despite the county’s failure to claim them they remain open to pubic use. Haddox said the situation has long been untenable. “For me, it’s a very sad situation to have any community pitting neighbor against neighbor,” he said. “The situation needs to get resolved.” Additionally, Haddox said he’s awaiting answers from

Gabriella Ferraro, communications outreach director, said the commission has put out a request for proposals from contractors able to construct the park. “Now there’s a bid open on our website for contractors to bid at approximately $3.4 million,” she said. “The board will have final approval (on bidding companies) at a later meeting.
