Fairfield Summer Music Series

Select Fridays, June 6 – September 5 • 6 – 8pm

A neighborhood park near you is set to transform into a vibrant music venue as this Summer Music Series returns for another season of free outdoor concerts! This community-favorite event promises to fill warm summer evenings with live music, food, and family entertainment.

The series kicks off June 6th at Vintage Green Valley Park with local sensation 2nd Planet taking the stage. Music lovers can look forward to six carefully curated concerts spread throughout the summer, each running from 6 to 8pm at different park locations across the city.

This year’s diverse lineup includes Papa Joe and the New Deal bringing their sound to Rolling Hills Park, Git With It performing at Veterans Park, and Los Cochinos lighting up Lee Bell Park. Top Shelf Classics will entertain at Woodcreek Park, while tribute band Hey Jude will close out the series at Gary Falati Park on September 5th.

Each event goes beyond just music, featuring local food trucks offering delectable dining options for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and prepare for the perfect outdoor listening experience!

Camp Discovery is designed to fill your summer with the great outdoors! This outdoor camp combined with a daily hike and weekly field trip excursion to a place of adventure makes for a unique and unforgettable experience. Campers begin each day listening to the call of nature from the elegant and magnificent peacocks at the Dunnell Nature reserve. Youth will enjoy sports, art, and a variety of enriching activities offered by the imaginative staff found only at the Fairfield Parks and Recreation department. Each day campers should bring a water bottle, a sack lunch, and swim gear in a backpack. Closed toe shoes only for safety reasons. Preferably athletic shoes, NO Crocs please! No camp June 19 or July 4.

Although based on Kajukenbo (Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kenpo and Kung Fu) self-defense is emphasized. Self defense techniques are drawn from the varied experience of Grand Master Marquez, but awareness and situational strategies are stressed. This is not a quick self-defense course that is forgotten shortly after the course is over. This martial art class has belt rank promotions. Each class will begin and end with an optional inspirational prayer.

The DMV allows teens to receive their Learner’s Permit at age 15 1/2 and a License at age 16. This class is the first, required step that must be completed. This is an online course with videos, animated driving scenarios, and sample test questions. Learn the rules of the road, major causes of traffic collisions, DMV procedures and much more. A licensed instructor is available to answer any questions. Receive DMV-approved Certificate of Completion. Sign up any time. Once students are registered, they will be contacted by the instructor.

Lifeguard Certification Training Course

Location: Allan Witt Aquatics Complex

Ages: 15 and up

Provides a comprehensive professional aquatic training course for American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED procedure. No prior experience is required; however, participants must pass an onsite prerequisite skills assessment. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years. This course is blended learning with a 7-hour online portion to be completed prior to the first day of the course. A link will be issued after registration. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

Learn CPR and obstructed airway for adult, child, and infant. Class includes hands-on skills practice. First aid will be basic and includes bandaging, splinting, controlling bleeding, dealing with seizures, low blood sugar, shock symptoms and treatment and environmental emergencies, along with recognizing an emergency and activating EMS, poison prevention and treatment, and burn treatment will be taught.

This is a virtual Driver’s Education with a live instructor. Students will enjoy a series of Driver’s Education lectures including understanding the responsibilities of having a driver?s license, learning the rules of the road and accident-avoidance procedures. Independent assignments will also be completed during the week. The course also includes practice questions, defensive driving movies and written test prep. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion. You must have access to a computer and the internet.

Basketball Fundamentals is for players of all levels and abilities. Participants will learn the basics of shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense. Scrimmages will be played to expose participants to game format but will focus on development, learning, and FUN. Participants should bring their own basketball and water to class. *Participants aged 5 years old should be able to shoot a basketball 8 feet into the air.
