Finally got used to winter? That’s a pity, because spring is already on it’s way. Judging from the unsettled weather in spring the last couple of years, we can conclude we have to be prepared for everything Mother Nature can bring us the next months, from icy cloudbursts to a sun-drenched summer-ish day in march. So luckily, we have everything in store for you to get past the end of winter and smoothly transition to spring. Although the following months can still be quite chilly, no one wants to still put on enormous sweaters when the first sunbeams are coming our way. Fortunately there are more than enough springy alternatives for you in store. We made special effort to select only the best quality sheer cashmere sweaters or tunics that you can wear at any moment. Also, we've got a wide range of colourful jackets that, when necessary, will keep you warm and stylish at once. Now what’s the key to a stylish start of springtime? It’s all in the details. Keep things simple by just making every piece you wear count, that applies to both male and female fashion. Go for selected pops of (pastel) color, clean lines and bold prints, but remember: less is more. Don’t mix busy patterns, but do try taking a solid outfit and then bringing it to life with a print detail, like a cool accessory. By the time this Magalogue hits the streets, the typical Belgian ‘too cold to walk around in a sweater but also too warm for a coat’ season has started, so consider yourself warned. It’s good to be prepared for this and the perfect solution is, by coincidence, also the must-trend of the season: the bold anorak. These typical spring jackets are officially back and looking better than ever. Considering the passed winter filled with bold colours and neon pops, we can imagine it may seem tempting to take it down a notch. Luckily pastel shades and even washed out colours are hot right now. A SPLASH OF SPRING It's the last thing you think about, but the first thing she notices: your scent. Cologne comprises a fragrance bottled in splash form; cologne is lighter than eau de parfum and eau de toilette, and it’s intended to be applied liberally (or ‘splashed’). The fragrance lingers on the skin and are only experienced by those who get very close to you. A HINT OF SUMMER Hi everyone! My name is Gert, YOUR "Nose" at YOUR favourite store. Because I’m the new kid in town, I would firstly like to tell you a little bit more about my passion for perfumes. Everything started during my education in the hotel and catering school, where I engaged in wine tasting and such. Yes, I guess I could say I was already very interested in the smell of all these products. The passion really appeared when I noticed I often tried to smell people’s perfumes, I’ve always found it quite interesting I guess. On top of that, people link a specific smell to specific people and events and I’ve always found this really intriguing. The mother of a friend of mine had a classic perfumery back in the days and I regularly paid them a visit, and so came to like the idea of becoming a fragrance expert. Then, I met Wim and luckily, he shared his enormous knowledge and passion with me. For my very first spring Magalogue, I selected some top notch perfumes for you so I hope you’ll enjoy! We often associate a fragrance with a feeling, a person or a memory and this results in the fact that we like or dislike a specific perfume. During winter, most of us will probably go for a warm, spicy perfume because we affiliate this with the atmosphere of winter, think; Christmas, a crackling fire, the cold outside and warmth inside. So when spring arrives and summer is in prospect, we opt for a more refreshing smell. Spring makes us long for flowers, sun, sea and most of all: a vacation. The time when we lose our coats and long-legged trousers and that’s the moment when we choose a new fragrance. Ladies, why not go for Creed’s Spring Flower, with a touch of nuts, apples, apricots, peach, melon and the perfect match between rose and jasmin. Or maybe Inedit from Lubin, with fresh, floral, midst between a spicy smell with apples, mandarin and pepper in the top, followed by a base of patchouli, vanilla, wood and musk. Perfect to match your spring-ish dresses and sunglasses.

Gentlemen, with those shorts and t-shirt Commes Des Garçons’ Odeur 53 will be the perfect match. This fragrance most definitely surprises everyone, with “touches” of stone, oxygen and dunes you can be sure spring is here to stay for a while. If you’d rather prefer a more classic perfume, choose Royal Water from Creed, this herb ’cocktail’ with citrus, musk, pepper and fruit will carry you like a spring breeze. I often feel still feel the atmosphere of these darker winter days because of my warmer fragrance choice, that’s why I love to switch over to another perfume. A perfume is like my garments to me, I wear it every day, but each day something different. I even stopped wearing some perfumes because I link them with specific emotional moments in my life. So as you can see, for some people a fragrance is a daily habit, and you can even smell they’re in the room with your eyes closed. For some, perfume is a daily ritual, and the choice of it maybe even takes longer than choosing an outfit. No matter which group you think you’re part of, know that a fragrance is something precious and we should be happy we even have the opportunity to wear it. This is why I feel honored to welcome you at YOUR, give you my advice and maybe you will even return home with a piece of that precious part of my passion, so you can wear it and share it with others. ANNEKE True YPS-friends have probably noticed the lovely place in front of our store. If you've been there before in Spring or Summer, you must have seen the cosy inviting terrace just across it. That terrace belongs to a dear friend of ours, Anneke. She runs a nice café on the opposite corner of the street called Octo. A great place for an Apero, or even a whole night, excellent selection of drinks and there's always a friendly face. We talked to her about what Antwerp means to her and what she thinks of the neighbourhood.

Hi Anneke, can you tell our readers a little bit more about Octo? What seperates you from the rest?

Is there a quick tip you want to share with our readers about why people should pass by at Octo and say hi?

Because we are in the most fun neighbourhood in Antwerp! (laughs) I think Octo is all about just having a good time in a cosy place, where you can be yourself. Our clientele varies from sunday-tourists to working people from the harbour and from trendy South-Antwerp peeps to diplomats and even those crazy premium staff from YOUR. All is welcome and that's the beauty of having a café in the St.-Andries area. It's really a safe haven for everyone who just wants to relax and have a great drink.

Well summer's about to arrive and I'm happy to tell you we have one of the few terraces in the city that has sunlight the entire day! To top that off we offer the best wines, sodas and bubbles to make your day the best of summer. Not to forget the relaxing atmosphere of the area in the best neighbourhood of Antwerp. Of course we are always at our best with a nice smile and we love to see people enjoy the hapiness Octo brings to them. So pass by people, and have a great evening out!

We all pretty much adore our dearest Kloosterstraat, but has it always been the same to you? Did you experience any type of revival of it?

What's your opinion on the vision of YOUR? Do you like the energetic YOUR-way of shopping?

When I started Octo six years ago, the building where Octo is in now was property of the old sauce-factory where YOUR is located now. I have to admit that during the constructions of South Bay it has been quite messy times coping with the whole construction area, but when it finally got finished it has been for the better. I'm enormously happy that YOUR decided to become one of my neighbours and I quickly noticed the upgrade the area got by fixing the transition between the city centre and the South area. I am very pleased to have such a blooming store next to my door and the pleasure is mine because I really get along with them!

The first thing that pops my mind is their exquisite selection of premium products. I really dig the huge variety of departments and prices. People who are looking for gifts have just stepped into gift-heaven! (laughs) If you're having last-minute plan changes and you have to rush to a party or whatsoever, you can always rely on the extremely cool gadget selection YOUR has to offer. But it's not just that. People really re-discover theirselves by getting the best advice from the personel containing a completely new world of know-how which they apply to you personal. The best example for me is the beauty department... If it wasn't for perfume and skincare experts Wim and Gert, I would'nt be this up to date on the selective quality of their range. I truly not only shop there, but got some damn fine advice as well!

Some birdy told me you are originally native from Rotterdam. Can you tell us why you decided to start up a café in Antwerp and not over there?

Can you describe "YOUR" in 3 words?

The thing is... I was born in Antwerp and grew up in the city and then moved to Rotterdam. I have to admit it's a great city, but there's no place like home right? To put it briefly, I lost my heart in Antwerp and that's the base of everything. When I came back to Antwerp I noticed that the building was empty and available for rent. I acted immediately and didn't even think about starting some place else. This was it and I was ready to take the dive. Antwerp is my home and I was glad to stumble upon this.

I'm going to try, but I'm not sure I can express it into three words... On the first day YOUR opened their doors I read their motto on their invitation-cards and I'm actually pretty sure I could not describe it any better! It said: YOUR premium store: FOR DAMN FINE PRODUCTS. In my opinion a true gem in the heart of Antwerp, built for your shoppertainment.
