Parent testimonial:

Fiona Sefton

Fiona has been involved with Snappy for eight years, since her son Adam started attending the after school programme. “It was perfect for me, as back then I was studying for my degree in the evenings and it was great to know Adam was somewhere safe and having fun,” says Fiona. Adam, who has in the past taken part in the summer and Easter schemes as well as attending on Saturdays, has now reached the age to join the Senior Snappy group. “It’s not school, nor is it home,” says Fiona. “It’s somewhere else. There are fewer rules and far more freedom at Snappy. Adam plays, he meets people… generally has lots of fun!” Fiona, who is participating in the Run For All York 10K in aid of Snappy, was able to complete her degree and later secure a job because of the time Snappy gave her. Adam’s weekly get-together with his friends at Snappy is a chance for Fiona, and other parents, to have time to themselves. “It’s invaluable time, especially for families with other children who may feel they get less attention than their siblings with disabilities. It’s a lifeline and the whole family benefits.” Fiona is running the Run For All York 10K on 5th August to raise money for Snappy. To sponsor her, visit
