Fizz, crackle… Mayday, mayday! Atte ntion all radio enthusiasts! The York Radio Club is welcoming new members to its meetings in the Bishopthorpe Social Club on Thu rsdays at 8pm. Over. You’ll learn how to operate a radio transceiver and you can even take tests to allow you to transmit independently. Over. The club offers its own equipme nt which can be used after training and new members can always expe ct a warm and friendly atmosphere. A roaring success

The York Lions are looking for new members. Don’t worry though, the entrance requirements don’t include hunting wildebeest on the Serengeti or hanging out in a pride. What the group need are volunteers to help in a range of ways – by assisting disabled people, mentoring pupils and prov iding hospital equipment. York is just one branch of a worldwid e network that aims to meet the needs of local communities whil e having fun along the way – the Lions reward themselves with regu lar social events.
