I love this time of year! Warmer weather makes for happier children in our house!

In this months issue we have a colouring competition to WIN a copy of the book Careful Audrey written by Speech Pathologist Michelle O’Brien. You can read all about the book in our Book Review. There are some great articles that I hope you enjoy. Maintaining our calm is one of them and its something I sometimes need to remember with our busy house, Want to write a book is another interesting one for anyone who has had this on there bucket list. Countdown to Christmas might give you some tips on getting through the crazy season.

Ollie and I visited another park - this time in Greensborough, that he highly rated and we left with the ducks having fuller bellies. And speaking of bellies this months recipe is for Nut Free Bliss Balls - they are yum!

What is it that you do and how long have you been doing it for?

I am a Real Estate Agent and have been working in this profession for 4 years

What made you want to start in this career?

I have always had a passion for Real Estate. I purchased my first property at the age of 19 and have bought and sold a few since then. I love dealing with people and assisting families with (often) the biggest financial and lifestyle decision they will ever make. I love the emotional aspects of buying and selling property – it must run in my blood!

Did you have to do any specific training?

I completed my Agent’s Representative Certificate and Barry Plant is a fantastic organisation that provides exceptional training in all aspects of Real Estate – I am provided with training whenever I want it or need it.

What advice would you give someone wanting to start in this career?

Remember that Real Estate is not about buying and selling houses, it is about people and relationships. Once you understand that as well as be willing to put in some hard work and true commitment, it is a very rewarding career.

As a mum, do you have any tips for dealing with the struggles of balancing work and family life?

I am a mother of two beautiful girls (Evie, 5 years and Ella, 16 months) and it can be very difficult balancing work and family life. I have a very supportive husband and parents who are willing to do extra work with me. So, I guess my tips are: have great support around you and ensure your family understands your career and its demands, keep a well structured diary to allocate enough time for your family and a bit of R&R for yourself!

Here’s what you need:

1 cup (150g) dates, seeds removed 1 cup (150g) dried apricots 1 cup (100g) rolled oats or desicatted coconut 1 tablespoon (20g) huled tahini or coconut cream 2 teaspoons cocoa or cacao 1/4 cup coconut for rolling the balls in Here’s what you do: If your dates have seeds you will need to soak them for around 15 minutes to soften so they are easy to remove· Put all ingredients into your blender (except coconut for rolling!)

Process until it all comes together Shape into balls, Roll in the coconut ENJOY!!!

Kalparrin Gardens Pinehills Drive Greensborough

Kalparrin Gardens is a tucked away from the busy streets and is a little gem with lots to offer.

If you remember to take a bag of bread you will be happily greeted by the friendly resident ducks!!

The playground is totally fenced and the gate has a child lock to make it extra safe around the water.

The main structure resembles a boat and has 2 slides, stairs and ladders to climb, chain bridge and disks to cross plus windows to wave or climb through.

There are also swings, a 4 way see-saw and to test out balancing skills there is a wobbly skateboard (without wheels!) to stand on. Public toilets are close by and seats both within the playground and by the water so you can sit and enjoy the area or recharge after all that wobbly balancing!!

You could even take a scooter or bike with you and go for a stroll around the walking tracks.

So as you can see by Ollie’s face this the park and the ducks got a big thumbs up!!
