We found a problem where players were using ordinary table which did not secure the terrain in place thus making them exposed to be tiped over or accidnetly pushed off. Each block of terrain are 1200 x 600mm. Height can be from 100-300mm.

Brief: To design a portable playing surface for war games that can be set up quickly and efficiently.
Specifications: -Must be portable -Budget $50-$70 -Reliability -Safety
This has separate section which can be assembled together when in use. The advantages for this is a more compact design as the table can be in little sections, and no mechanical parts thus a more reliable design. We thought it may be complex to construct with the slot design, and it may be a hassle bring many individual sections to assemble the table.
Concept 3 Concept 3 was chosen to be further developed. We both agreed that this design was the most practicle, simple, and cheaper to construct.
This design allows the two main sections to fold in half to create a more compact form. Unlike the first concept there are less sections to assemble thus user friendly, furthermore a simple single pivot joint will allow a more reliable design. We also thought it still has a complex structure to construct effectively, and the pivot points may not be strong enough to handle stresses such as flex/warping of the table.
Concept 3 has a single pivot design where it folds in half. The simplicity of the design allows the design to be more reliable.

Development 2 Development 2 was designed based on Mr Boothâ€™s opinion. He liked the sliding board feature however it is not a necessity.
Leg hinges are closer together. Allows people to fold the legs with ease. As this prevent people trying to reach for the other hinge. Has no slidable boards the costs and the weight of tha table will decrease.

Refined Development I have made a scaled model to test the functionality of the design for development 2. When I first made the model without the modifications there were two main issues that I have realised. Extra support to reduce flex at the middle of the table. This will increase the reliablilty and durability of the table.
Additional space for the table legs. This will prevent the legs to act as a bumper thus decreasing the chance to damage the legs.
Rotable hook to secure the both halves of the table together and safely. The hook will be located within the table.
