What is the Yorkton Business Improvement District you ask? Business owners are the pillar of any burgeoning city. They stimulate local economies and bring vitality to the surrounding communities. Today our business voice is known as the Yorkton Business Improvement District (YBID). The goal has always been simple: To improve the appearance of the main shopping district and area in Yorkton. Though the original intentions were good, and the efforts productive, the group faced one key issue: lack of funding to achieve their goals. Through City of Yorkton Bylaw 27-2004 the Yorkton Business Improvement District was formed, accessing the needed funds for district redevelopment through a small property levy agreed to by businesses residing within the district boundaries. The district levy funds raised annually are matched by the City of Yorkton. The Yorkton Business Improvement District continues to focus on supporting development and building relationships with community partners while continuously striving to be a one-stop support shop for local business within our district. Today the YBID has been responsible for

#2 - 464 Broadway Street East, Yorkton

the Street Lights all the way down Broadway and Smith. The benches, garbage cans, flower pots and clean sweep programs. We partner with several organizations in the community to create and continue the programs. We have partnered with the City of Yorkton for our central parks, the clock, and Christmas tree and lighting ceremony. Many of the party in the parks are of our doing. Free cinema movies at Christmas and our jewel for us - the Santa Claus Parade. This is just a few of the many projects we continue to support and fund. Bringing much needed traffic to our District and Downtown, which is a heritage area for us, is crucial in keeping our district alive. Shop Yorkton marketing program also is a great marketing strategy to bring attention to the need to keep it local. Just 20% more shopping local helps keep our businesses open, jobs in our community and young persons here!! Thus is the circle of life. Succession is so crucial for our businesses and by working together and keeping our district alive, beautiful and a great place to work, live, raise our families, and shop we also keep our community vital and relevant! We are Yorkton #shopyorkton and as some call us “The Tiger of the East”!

5 ways to write great quality content Every brand wants to know the secret ingredient that makes people click on their website in Google search, scroll down the page, and keep coming back for more. And, indeed, the answer is simple.

about your brand and interact with it; it builds brand trust and credibility, which eventually position you as an industry expert. So, here are a few useful tips to help you succeed in writing that great piece of content:

Great quality content. Just average content might give you a few clicks here and there, but that’s about it. Great content, on the other hand, sparks interest to know more

Make it human, tell a story. We, as humans, love reading and telling stories. As a Canadian poet Margaret Atwood put it, “You’re never going to kill storytelling, because it’s built into the human plan. We come with it. That’s just the way our brain works. We all want to relate to something and feel connected.

306-782-2209

Provide value. While it’s good to tell a story, it’s not always enough. Make sure to do your research and get to know your audience better. David Ogilvy, also known as the father of advertising, once said, “A good advertisement is one which sells the product without drawing attention to itself. So, make it more about your readers, provide them with value and an opportunity to give feedback. Guaranteed, you’ll see great results.

Make a strong headline. If you want to get your readers’ attention, it’s also crucial to make a strong and catchy headline. According to Copyblogger, 80% of your readers will read your headline, but just 20% will continue reading the rest. There are a number of tools on the internet that can calculate your headline score, provide feedback on how to improve it, and give a few title suggestions. Make it easy to read. You probably know the feeling of giving up on reading a blog post with big chunks of plain text that makes you tired. Instead, break big paragraphs into pieces, use subheadings, and avoid lengthy sentences. That way, it will

PAGE 17

be easier to digest the information, and your readers will thank you for that. *Bonus point: Proofread. Twice. Because those typos are kind of a big deal. Optimize for SEO. In the digital age, you absolutely must incorporate SEO into your content marketing strategy. Researching keywords, working on your headlines, and taking word count into consideration – are all good starting points to boost your rank in Google search. Many brands are already using content marketing in their strategy, and this number is projected to grow. Stay ahead of the curve and build your brand’s trust and credibility with Glacier Media Digital’s content packages.
