FOOTBALL GAME EXPECTATIONS  Football games serve as performance opportunities for the marching band. We are present to serve in support of the team and represent our high school.  All YCHS Band Students are “walking billboards” for our band, school and community. Represent it with dignity!  All YCHS Band Students are to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. NO LOUD TALKING.  We observe the rules of our football coaches when playing in the stands. 

 Band members are expected to remain in the stands in his/her ASSIGNED SEAT and respond quickly to direction from the Drum Major or Director.  Permission to leave the stands will be granted by the Directors only, for emergency reasons. Students leaving the stands must be accompanied by a chaperone, Director, or Staff Member. o This is to ensure safety of all members. o This includes restroom visits.  No individual playing in the stands. o This includes improvisation of stands tunes. o NO previous arrangements are to be played.  Students must remain in full uniform unless instructed. o This includes Summer Uniform AND Formal Uniform o The Summer Uniform is NOT to be added to NOR modified in any way. The Summer Uniform will consist of the “Logo T,” medium-colored khaki shorts (w/ solid brown or black belt only), and white tennis shoes. o The ONLY piercings that will be allowed in uniform will be gold or silver “stud” earrings. No exceptions.  3 quarter breaks are a privilege and must be earned. Failure to comply with expectations or failure to complete rd assigned pass offs will prohibit a student from leaving the band block during 3 quarter. Third quarter break is dependent upon stadium design and audience attendance. rd

 Members will need to plan to eat before or after game. Members will be given a bottle of water after pre-game and after half time. Only water needs to be consumed while before playing an instrument. o We do not eat during games to prevent instrument deterioration and to maintain cleanliness of uniform. o No food or drinks (besides water) will ever be allowed in the stands at a football game.  No PDA (Public Display of Affection) during games, or while in uniform. o PDA is defined as, but not limited to: holding hands, hugging, kissing, etc.  ALL members are expected to fully participate – STAND during ENTIRE piece, PLAY correct part, and “DANCE” with the rest of the band – NOT alone.  No non-members in the band section during the game. This includes, but is not limited to: Alumni, non-band friends, non-chaperones/volunteers, etc.  Inclement Weather: o In the case of rain (during marching season) students should prepare to perform as usual at all games, in either Formal or Summer Uniform, unless notified otherwise. Administration will make the call as to if we will travel/perform at games. If a scheduled away game is postponed, the band will more than likely not attend the rescheduled event. If a scheduled home game is postponed, all students will attend unless otherwise directed.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS  Behavior on Buses o Follow all instructions given by the bus driver. o All students will be seated the entire trip. Students WILL NOT move around the bus. o To Contests – NO TALKING!! o From Contests – Students may talk normally…..no yelling or loud singing. o To and From Football Games – Students may talk normally…..no yelling or loud singing. o Observe certain important times on buses that the Directors/Staff/Chaperones designate as “QUIET TIME”:     

Roll Call on Bus Leaving YCHS Parking Lot Railroad Crossings Before arriving at destination continuing through unloading bus Any other impromptu occasions as called by the Directors/Staff/Chaperones

No PDA (Public Display of Affection) on buses.

Students WILL be moved if they are a behavior problem. Band members will show respect for the Directors/Staff/Chaperones in charge at all times. Upon arrival at our destination, all YCHS Band students will sit quietly on buses until they are directed to exit by the Directors.

PDA is defined as, but not limited to: holding hands, hugging, kissing, etc.

 YCHS Band Students will always move quickly and quietly – and in an orderly fashion – when exiting the bus to do the following (including, but not limited to): o Line up for Restrooms / Dressing Rooms o On the way to Restrooms / Dressing Rooms (single-file lines) o Unloading Trucks & Trailers o Line up for Meals o Line up for Warm-Up Areas o On the way to Warm-Up Areas o Line up to enter Stadium o On the way to enter Stadium  Every YCHS Band Student will ride the bus TO and FROM football games and competitions. o All YCHS Band Students will have Unloading Duties upon arrival back at the YCHS Band Room. o All YCHS Band Students will complete these duties before leaving to go home.  Non-band members may not ride band buses, except for approved chaperones.  Personal Electronic Devices are permitted (iPod, handheld games, etc.) o These are to be used with headphones only. o NO external speakers are allowed.  Parents / Rides are expected to be at the YCHS Band Room ON TIME to pick up students after band events. o Students waiting to call home for a ride until after we arrive back at YCHS - is not acceptable.  Rules of the YCHS Student Handbook are in effect for the entire duration of any YCHS Band Travel.
