Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) Edge! is designed as an alternative after-school enrichment program for school age, middle school and teen participants delivered by Family and MWR Partner Organizations. At least two of the four components offered per week. Fee required, $30.00 for School Age children. Free for Middle School/Teens. Programs may include swimming, bowling, scrapbooking, make & take, backpacking, camping, kayaking, mountain biking, tennis and much, much more. Please take advantage of this new Army wide initiative. Bean baskets are made with simple cardboard boxes with patterns “woven” together using beans, glue and a little imagination. Come join the fun. School Support Services assists Military Families with information on the 17 surrounding public schools which includes Lawton Public Schools, four Lawton private schools, and the Fort Sill Garrison, but also ranges from Cyril to Walters and Frederick to Duncan. Missoula Children’s Theatre Alice in Wonderland June 13-18
Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT), a nationally-acclaimed educationalenhancement organization focusing on children’s theater is coming with PROPS (Performances, Recitals, Orchestration, Plays and Stagecraft) to Fort Sill for a week long Theatre experience from June 13 through June 18. Professionals from the MCT will provide workshops for children youth covering all aspects of the theater, to include auditioning, role playing, stage craft, makeup, sound design, as well as costume and set design. The end of the week will culminate with the production “Alice in Wonderland.” Camp hours will be extended (for rehearsals) during this

STARBASE is Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program for 5th graders to help teach STEM concepts in a hands-on environment with fun projects such as rocket building. STARBASE 2.0 is an afterschool STEM club for 6th-8th graders. The club has three parts, mentoring, team building and robotics. APLAS is a school partnering program that enables active duty soldiers to be involved in their child’s education. The soldiers can partner with a school for activities, mentor in the middle school, help provide leadership activities for high schools, and attend their child’s parent\teacher conferences. The Hired! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth valuable work experience and workforce preparation training. Participants will have the opportunity to explore secondary education options and work with an assigned Mentor in one of many career interest areas. The Program offers teens valuable experiences and trainings to better equip them with the skills needed for a highly-competitive job market. Apprenticeship Terms are 12-weeks in length and are available in areas such as Information Technology, Library Science, Sports Management, Automotive Technology, Early Childhood Development, Youth Services, Recreation Management and more! July 5-8 – Digital Arts Come join us for a “Digital Arts” learning series to pursue creative futures! We will be exploring the outdoors with photography, hiking, fishing, and much more. During the week you will learn technology, creativity, and use your new found knowledge many different ways. Be creative! Must register by June 29. July 11-15 – Survivor This outdoor survival camp offers them a challenge, gives them a chance to socialize with other teens, and have a great time while learning something. Most teens are going to hate the idea of roughing it for a week of camp without cell phones, social networking, computers, IPods, etc… But we guarantee they will Survive. A week at a survival camp will give them a chance to remember how to entertain themselves without electrical gadgets and how to get back to the basics of having fun. Must register by July 6. July 18-22 – Greek Greatness During Greek week attendees will split into two groups, the mighty Persian Army VS. the Relentless Spartan Army,
in an array of color war competition events ranging from 3 round dodge ball war, an archery accuracy challenge, and the Persian Spartan water balloon challenge. At the end of the competition, staff (gods of camp) will induct the winning team as honorary demigods for the week. Must register by July 13. July 25-29 – Sports The sports and fitness program will be offering a variety of team sports, individual sports workouts, and fitness programs that will help keep you moving. Early morning warm-ups and light games of Frisbee, then healthy breakfast, and a variety of team sports (Flag football, soccer, basketball, etc.) Participation required in all activities. Finding Inspiration in Literature & Movies (F.I.L.M.) week includes watching award-winning films to channel positive messages and life-affirming themes into the mind and lives of youth. The curriculum is designed in conjunction with movie studios and youth educators to get youth reading and watching quality content, provoke thought and exploration of pertinent themes and issues, and inspire participation in theme-based activities and service activities and service projects. Discussion and activities
will be centered on the movie chosen for the day. There will be field trip to a local theater at the end of the week. Must Register by August 3. August 15-18 – We are Family What does family mean to you? Join our family for scrapbooking, team building, and reflecting on your summer. August 1-31 – Inventor’s Exhibit We will be showing off some of the creative inventions of our community for the whole month of August. If you are interested in having your invention on display, just sign up at the circulation desk. We will need a name and phone number of participants and the name of the inventions. So we can make sure each item gets back to the right inventor! Inventions must be appropriate for general audiences, not dangerous, and small enough to fit through the door and be displayed on a table.
