Arrecho I, 70 x 100 cm, técnica mixta Yolanda A. Vela Mexican, was born in Durango. Her artistic education started in 1981 in Guadalajara Jalisco which was widened with the drawing free workshops, wood carving, engraving, watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic, studied between 1983 and 2001 in Cuernavaca Morelos with teachers such as José Luis Cuevas, Conrado Domínguez, Enrique Cattaneo, Huascar Taborga, among others. She has carried out more than fifteen individual exhibitions and sixty collective ones in several states of the Mexican Republic such as Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Baja California, Quintana Roo, Yucatán and the State of Mexico. Additionally in 2003 was scholarship holder of the Stimuli to Creation, Spreading, Research and Artistic Education Programme of the State Fund for Culture and Arts in the category of creators and interpreters; likewise in 2001 won the first place in the IV State Room of Watercolor in Morelos for her work “Erotic impetus” and has received mentions in several contests organized by the National Museum of Watercolor. In accordance with Enrique Cattaneo, Yolanda A. Vela’s plastic proposal is featured for reflecting without shame “the mystery of bodies, all that to we are afraid of and at the same time we want to find”; the eroticism and passion are then established as her main source of inspiration.
