New Year’s Silent Retreat The Doorway to Reinvention

Revs. Paraman and Lakshmi Barsel (Retreat Directors) with Senior Staff December 28, 2016–January 1, 2017

Every new year, you close a door to the past and open one to myriad new possibilities. These possibilities allow you to recreate and redesign your life in ways that align you with your innermost desires. Taking a little time away from your busy life for relaxing and reflecting on where your journey has taken you (and how you want to proceed) is the best way to engage this process. This year, unwind from the holidays in the tranquility of Yogaville, with five days of silence, Hatha Yoga, guided and unguided meditation techniques, and a variety of talks from our experienced staff that will help you reach healthy new heights. You’ll find that away from the demands of daily life, it’s easier to reconnect with your ideals in a way that brings “regular life” into alignment. I came to this retreat to take a nourishing, mindful pause, and to dive deep within me. At the end of it, I was filled with love and peace, and so much gratitude to Yogaville and to myself for choosing this. I feel like instead of diving down, I dove up. Thanks!—Steve Van Dam Tuition: $295 Add four nights accommodation (see p. 52) Official time for check-in: 4 pm and check-out: 2 pm

Ten-Day Silent Retreat

Nurture Your Connection Within Integral Yoga Retreat Directors with Senior Staff June 9–18, 2017

The world is constantly drawing our attention outward into its swirling eddies of activities and responsibilities, joys and sorrows, pleasures and pain. We have trouble finding the time to tap into our inner reality and connect with our innermost desires and aspirations. Gardens of peace and beauty await us within, but opportunities to explore them and re-establish ourselves elude us. Now is the time to take time for yourself. Come to Yogaville and immerse yourself in silence for ten days. Allow yourself the luxury of going deep within to nurture your connection with your own inner guidance. Experience the natural beauty and the stillness of our sacred spaces. A keystone of the program will be the inspirational talks given each day. Some of Integral Yoga’s most inspired teachers will share insights, chants, and meditation techniques that will assist you on your journey. Within every heart is an ocean of peace and joy, which is our own true nature. Take time this year to rediscover your own inner pathways to that peace and joy.

If you cannot attend the full ten days, you may attend the first weekend of the retreat. First weekend only: $235 Add two nights accommodation (see p. 52) Tuition: $475 Add nine nights accommodation (see p. 52) Official time for check-in: 4 pm and check-out: 2 pm

I had been feeling burnt-out, stressed, and felt I needed some time to myself. My husband had done the silent retreat and suggested I try it. It has been wonderful. I feel renewed and refreshed. The time I spent in Hatha Yoga and meditation allowed me to re-center myself and find some inner peace.—Marti Peters

Jan./Feb.

Hope Mell

January 26–29, 2017

Combining the movement principles of the Alexander Technique with the age-old practice of Pavanmuktasana (the Joint-Freeing Series), Joyful Movement is a powerful practice that has transformed lives. This program gives an overview of The Alexander Technique, which offers a revolutionary approach to finding your natural balance, seeing the connection between your thinking and movement, and creating change in your life. When complemented by Pavanmuktasana, which has the ability to rehabilitate your joints more efficiently than most practices, you’ll find that Joyful Movement can transform your mind and body. Hope Mell draws on her three decades of study and experience, guiding you through an easy approach to change. My experience was more than I could have “Hope”d for! Yoga Therapy and Healing Lifestyle Preventative Medicine of the Future Dr. Bob Butera

February 17–19, 2017

I think of you often and am very grateful for what I learned from your program and my ability to apply this knowledge to my life! Happier then I’ve been in years. Many thanks!—Toniann

In the future, “medicine” might mean “holistic lifestyle.” Imagine how happy your doctor would be if: • You felt inspired by each facet of life • Stresses were seen as temporary events filled with valuable lessons • You saw relationships as times to experience love fully and to purify your ego • Sleep, diet, and exercise were also your medicine The goal of this weekend is to offer tools to help you see each aspect of your daily life as an exercise in spiritual development.

Bob’s training at The Yoga Institute of Mumbai, India (1989), his Ph.D. in Yoga Therapy (1997), and 30 years of practice has helped him translate the esoteric teachings of Yoga into easy-to-follow lifestyle principles. During this weekend we will discuss principles from The Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita, as well as the koshas and chakra systems. During the Hatha Yoga sessions, the goal will be to help devise short home practice routines and to develop self-awareness towards how you perform asana, opening doorways for renewal.

Prerequisites: None.

Bob Butera, Ph.D., director of The YogaLife Institute in Devon, PA, trains Yoga Therapists and Yoga Teachers. He publishes Yoga Living magazine in the Philadelphia area. His Ph.D. in Yoga from The California Institute of Integral Studies (1997) and training at The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, India (1989) certified him as a Yoga therapist. Bob has a Masters of Divinity from The Earlham School of Religion (Quaker).
