Issue 7

Don’t play your sport to keep fit– Get fit to play your sport! Lack of fitness is a major cause of injury Sponsor for YMCC Hockey LendiQ - Keyinvest Lending Services -David Cosgrove 0412 624 312 david@lendiq.com.au President’s Note; Simon Moore-Crouch smoore-crouch@wais.org.au mob:0433509582 Well I don’t think I can go another week without mentioning the outstanding results from the J7/8A Reserve girls – a third win on the trot, this time a 7-1 victory over WASPs. These girls have now scored 12 goals and conceded just two in their three matches to sit happily on top of the ladder. A particular mention to Guadalupe Vila Suarez who has scored an very impressive eight of her team’s goals! This team is coached by Jo King who has done a great job with our juniors over the past couple of seasons and this year is being assisted by Charlotte Andressen from our women’s top grade squad. Keep up the top work Jo and Charlotte. Another magnificent performance was recorded by our women’s Premier Alliance team who put 10 goals past Wolves on Saturday at Shenton. They are also undefeated so far this year and are looking good in second place after four rounds. This is a very impressive start to his YMCC coaching career for new recruit Richard Davies, who has joined the club with his family from Scotland. Richard has a great coaching background from his time in Scotland and it’s clear that the 3s girls are relishing the opportunity to play under him. Welcome to the club to the Davies family and here’s to continuing the impressive start to your coaching career at YMCC Richard! Finally it was great to head down to The Wembley post my own match on Saturday night – a thumping 6-1 win over Wolves for the Turf Crabs (Provisional 3 Black) – and see a good group of 1s and 2s men and women socialising post their own matches at Shenton. They were joined by the Turf Crabs for the customary free team pizza and discounted drinks – both great benefits of our new sponsorship with The Wembley. Look forward to this new tradition continuing throughout the season. Short and sweet this week. Enjoy your hockey this weekend, only two more games before the first general bye of the season!

Meera, Ducky

It was a slow first half 1-0 and very scrappy. In the second half our passing was good and our movement outstanding. Olivia and el completely controlled the game. A very enjoyable second half!

Moira, Helen, Carolyn

The talking from behind and across the midfield and the striker line was very positive. Great goals from Meera - being in the right place at the right time. And Anita a great penalty cor-

Canteen News Many thanks to Gary Lawton from the men's vet team for manning the BBQ last Saturday morning. Gary did a great job and managed to sell all 200 sausages. Di Sunderman has the difficult task each week to "guess how many sausages to buy" according to the number of teams scheduled to play. It is always difficult and most times Di is pretty accurate due to her years of experience. This is not to say that there is a lot of emailing discussing this very issue. Just a bit of "behind the scenes information" to share with you all. Thank you also to the Boys 9/10B team and parents for providing assistance selling tea/coffee, cakes and slices. There are many junior players who help (not just the parents) and it is always interesting to see how much they have grown and matured over the summer months . The canteen is now in the part of the season where the debts (stock) have been cleared and the club is now making money!!! Yipee!! ...from the Canteen Ladies.

Wanted: Umpire for YM J9/10B boys' team. Sunday morning games. $20 per game. Please contact Pip Hutchison 0431 072 532 or piphutch@bigpond.net.au
