SPORTS

INDOOR SOCCER Teaches children the fundamentals and basic concepts of soccer, while modeling core values such as good sportsmanship, respect, competition & hard work. Participants will take part in a skills clinic the week prior to first game and be divided into age appropriate teams. 60 minute practice once a week with games on Saturdays 9am-2pm. Includes t-shirt. Registration: Feb. 5th - Mar 1st League: March 9th - April 20th Practice day/time TBD Divisions: Ages 4-5 yrs Ages 6-7 yrs Ages 8-10 yrs Members: $35 Non Member: $70

IMPACT BASKETBALL Teaches children the fundamentals and basic concepts of basketball, while modeling core values such as good sportsmanship, respect, competition & hard work. Want ongoing personal attention? Get a little extra help from an experienced, certified personal trainer who will develop, monitor and modify your exercise program to meet your individual needs. It’s better with a buddy! Our Personal Training program offers the best of both worlds by giving you the chance to work out with a friend and an experienced, certified personal trainer for 60 minutes. Meet Our Amazing Trainers! Noah Pistory, Wellness Director Noah has been a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise instructor for the Defiance YMCA since 2022. He specializes in Strength and Conditioning, Weight Loss, Nutrition, Speed & Agility, Sport Specific, and Holistic styles of training. He enjoys the personal aspect of training more than anything and loves getting to know every client he gets to work with and helping his clients get the results they want to achieve. Josh Wilson Josh became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2011 and has been training people ever since. Josh believes that the key to long term success with health and fitness is consistency over all else. He has experience working with clients seeking weight loss, muscle gain, preparing for athletic competition, injury recovery and more. He believes in meeting the client where they are and developing a program based on not only what they need but what they want as well. Megan Keysor Megan has been an ACE certified personal trainer since September 2017, one year before she received her Bachelor’s degree in exercise science . Two years later, she obtained a nutrition coaching certification from Precision Nutrition. She has worked with hundreds of different clients, and the most exciting part of her job is watching people grow in confidence when they learn to be active and take care of their bodies. 9

GYMNASTICS

PRESCHOOL & SCHOOL-AGE

TUMBLING CLASSES

Classes provide athletes with new and developmentally appropriate programs. They focus on motor development using basic body positions, specific large and small motor skills, swinging and rolling movements; all promoting balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength. All athletes advance individually on gymnastics equipment developed specifically for their skill level.

Perfect for all beginner athletes. Classes focus on learning and improving jumps, basic tumbling cartwheels-back handsprings.

Rollie Pollies: (Walking -3-yr. olds) 30-minute 1 day per week *Adult assist

Advanced athletes (gymnasts and cheerleaders) who have progressed beyond basic tumbling and the back handspring. Class focuses on front and back tumbling including tucks, layouts, and twisting.

Tumbling: (6yrs. and up) 60-minute 1 day per week Beginner or Advanced

Preschool classes: (3–5 yr. olds) 45-minute 1 day per week *potty-trained

GYMNASTICS Training and Developmental Team Designed for athletes who are working toward becoming a competitive team member. Aspiring competitive gymnasts will focus on advancing specific team skills needed, as well as develop advanced skills in dance, flexibility, and strength. Recommendation from Gymstar team staff is required. Training Team (4-7 yr. olds)

Competitive Team The Gymstar Gymnastic Team is a girl’s competitive team that competes within USA Gymnastics, OHSAA High School Gymnastics and YMCA Gymnastics. Our competitions take place within Region 5 including Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky. The Gymstars produce State, Regional and National champions. Our own Gymstar, Emma Willitzer, earned a 10.0 at YMCA Nationals!

HOMESCHOOL

LEARN,GROW & THRIVE HOMESCHOOL GYM & SWIM

The YMCA Home School Swim and Gym program is a great way to work physical activity, healthy living, socialization and play into your home school curriculum. The goal of swim and gym classes for students is to have cooperative physical activity while promoting the students’ optimum physical, mental, emotional, and social development through a focus on open gym and open swimming. Students will be led in an activity for the gym portion. The swim portion is open swim time. There will not be instruction. Students will need a swimsuit, towel and gym apparel. Thursdays 1:00-3:00 Ages: 5-15 Member $50 / Non-Member $100 up to 5 children per session (8 weeks) Any additional children $15 Session I: Thursdays, September 14-November 2 Session II: Thursdays, November 9-January 25 No classes on Nov. 23, Dec. 21 & Dec. 28 Session III: Thursdays, February 1-March 21 Session IV: Thursdays, April 4-May 23
