Membership Details A YMCA membership provides full access to both the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCA. This means more value and flexibility for our members! For example, members have the convenience of working out before work or during lunch at the YMCA near your office or working out with your family at the YMCA near your home. This benefit enables you to take advantage of some of each branches’ specialized features, like Dunigan’s family fun pool or Downtown’s Family Exercise Center. Facility Rentals The YMCA is a great place to have your next party or meeting. Be sure to book your party early; the prime times fill about one month in advance. Refund Policy For YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

Children are introduced to an aquatic environment and parents and children learn basic water safety skills. While some basic swimming skills are taught, this class is not a traditional swim lesson. Riptides Swim Team The YMCA swim team is for those kids, ages 5 to 18, who wish to participate in a healthy, positive, competitive swimming program with an emphasis on stroke improvement and teamwork. Practices are held in the evenings and weekends. Children must be able to swim 1 length of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool. Riptides Stroke Technique Clinic This month long clinic is an excellent introduction to the sport of competitive swimming and is a great lead up for any swimmer wishing to participate with the YMCA Riptides swim team. It’s also a great way for current swim team members to brush up on their skills. Participants will be presented with the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and introduced to various drills and workouts for each. This class meets 3 days per week. All skill levels welcome! GuardStart The American Red Cross GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow course is designed to prepare 1114 year olds to take the Red Cross Lifeguarding certification program (when they reach the age of 15) and for future work as lifeguards. The GuardStart program helps participants build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills that they will need to be responsible lifeguards. Lessons are grouped into five main areas: prevention, fitness, response, leadership and professionalism. Location

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program This low impact water exercise program is for those with arthritis or other physical impairments. Conditioning for Teen Athletes This program, led by a YMCA certified Personal Trainer, will coach high school athletes through a systematic routine that will help them to develop a higher level of athletic preparation, focusing on injury reduction and improving performance through the use of progressively more demanding exercises. Women’s Strength Training Strength training is a critical component of any fitness program. It helps to prevent osteoporosis as well as increase metabolism. Women’s Wellness Weekend This retreat for women 14 & older is held at Camp Carson from 6:30pm on Friday, September 10 through noon on Sunday, September 12, 2010. This fun and educational retreat will offer various wellness topics focusing on healthy spirit, mind and body. Price includes lodging, meals and activities. Only $50 for Members and $75 for Non-Members.

Community Balance Screening- Held at Washington Square Mall Thursday, October 21 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The screening is conducted using balance tests to assess the participant’s balance and risk for falls. Each participant meets with a staff therapist immediately following the screening for an interpretation of the results and recommendations for improved balance and increased overall safety. The screening will take approximately 30 minutes from beginning to end.


Computer Class for Adults Participants will receive instruction in a small group providing a comfortable learning environment. Basic computer skills will be shared according to individual participant’s needs, such as how to Google on the internet, e-mail with attachments, and be creative with Publisher. Feel free to bring your own laptop if you have one. Experienced instruction provided by USI faculty and students. Adults ages 55+ Location

Half-Day Preschool Programs We provide an opportunity for children 2-5 years of age to participate in a half day preschool program. Teachers will provide hands on experience for your child while developing basic social and academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May and follow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuition is paid monthly and is due the first day of each month.
