Refund Policy

For YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CHILD CARE Parents Night Out

Hey Parents! Enjoy a night out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3 to 12 will participate in fun activities, games, and crafts. A fun snack and drink will be provided. Children must be potty-trained. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Space is limited so please register by the Wednesday prior to the event.

YMCA Childcare for Ford Center Events

The Downtown YMCA will be offering childcare to both YMCA members and the community during select Ford Center events. We will provide a range of activities for the children including inflatables, games, crafts, and a small snack. This service is available for children ages 3-12 who are potty-trained. Childcare will be offered for up to 5 hours per event, accepting children one hour prior to the event’s posted start time. Space will be limited, so please sign up 3 days prior to the event. Cost is $20 for the First Child, $10 for the Second Child, and $5 for each Additional Child. Please call for more information.

EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP Academic Enrichment Preschool

This half day preschool program is for 3-4 year olds. Children DO need to be completely potty trained and 3 years of age by August 1 to enroll. Registration for the 2013-2014 school year begins March 1, 2013.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Safe Sitter

Would you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Safe Sitters will learn all these things and more! Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitting preparation program for boys and girls 11-13 years of age. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Students need to bring their own lunch. Manual is included.

IN IT TO WIN IT

IN IT TO WIN IT, through a partnership with Youth First, Inc., with grant funding from the Old National Bank Foundation, is a FREE leadership program open to 7th and 8th grade youth. Based on the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey, IN IT TO WIN IT is an eight week program which introduces youth to the leadership qualities they already possess and how to grow stronger in areas such as time management, prioritizing, goal setting and resisting peer pressure as well as building strong relationships with friends and family. An Alumni Day is scheduled for Saturday, January 21 for all youth who have completed the IN IT TO WIN IT program. Come and refresh and remind yourself of the 7 habits that are so crucial to success!

Boy Scout Troop Aquatics

Bring your Scout Troop to learn water safety, proper stroke technique, boating safety and other skills necessary for water related badge requirements. A trained YMCA lifeguard or swim instructor will assist you. Call to schedule your troop!

Girl Scout Journey Program

The YMCA has partnered with the Girl Scouts to offer programs that support the Girl Scout Journey Program. For a fee of $7 per scout, we’ll help you Discover, Connect and Take Action through various workshops and classes. Call the Y for more information.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ARTS AND HUMANITIES Express Yourself Art Classes for Kids

Our art classes strive to meet both an educational and technical aspect of art while having fun with our students. For the first session, students will learn about the artist M.C. Escher and how to make his preferred technique tessellations. The second session students will learn about Egyptian art and create works of art inspired by ancient Egypt and take a trip to the Evansville Museum. For the third session students will learn about the artist Pierre Seurat and the technique of pointillism. They will create several artworks with different mediums using this painting style.

SWIM, SPORTS, AND PLAY Competitive Swimming and Sports Riptides Swim Team

On the YMCA swim team, everyone is a champion. The emphasis is on having fun and doing one’s best. The team is open to all children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice. A free trial period is available for those kids who want to try the team for a week.

Riptides Stroke Technique Clinic

This month long clinic is an excellent introduction to the sport of competitive swimming and is a great lead up for any swimmer wishing to participate with the YMCA Riptides swim team. It’s also a great way for current swim team members to brush up on their skills. Participants will be presented with the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and introduced to various drills and workouts for each. This class meets 3 days per week.

Take your game to the next level with the YMCA Competitive Youth Basketball League. Our leagues are designed to assist players with the evolution of their individual skill level while enhancing their level of play in a fun, competitive and structured environment. FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Youth Swim Lessons Join us for a swim YMCA lessons use a learn to swim progression from water orientation to stroke development that meets the needs of swimmers at all levels. For your families convenience the Y offers twice a week and once a week sessions. The classes that meet twice a week will run for 4 weeks and classes that meet once a week will run for 6weeks. Six week sessions begin the week of January 7, February 25 and April 15. Four week sessions begin the week of January 7, February 11, March 18 and April 22. The Y difference: • Y swim lessons have a 1 to 4 ratio to allow for more time in the water. • Convenient class days and times for parents to choose from. • Participants learn water safety skills and stroke development in a fun and supportive environment.

Parent/Tot $40 (FM) / $60 (PM) (6-24 months of age) This class is designed to be a time that the parent spends with the child in the water. This is not a traditional swim lesson, and the children will not be taught to swim on their own. Both parents (and grandparents) are welcome to attend.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider Recertification NEW The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers program is to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over.
