MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION NOW IT’S EASIER THAN EVER TO JOIN THE Y! Membership in the Y is a special thing. Be a part of a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The YMCA of Snohomish County is a membership organization and anyone can join. So, with simple monthly dues, you have no contracts or minimum stays to worry about and no sales pitches to endure. Just quality, healthy programs that your whole family can enjoy.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES FACILITY MEMBERSHIP Get full access to fitness centers at all six YMCAs in Snohomish County with a Facility Membership. Choose from a wide menu of free group exercise classes, enjoy lap and recreational swimming, and receive a free wellness orientation when you join. And as a facility member, you’ll be eligible for priority registration and reduced fees on specialty classes and programs for your whole family.

PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP If you’re not already a Y Facility Member and want to participate in programs like summer camps, youth sports, swimming lessons and child care, you’ll need an annual Program Membership. You’ll receive the same great level of quality and caring for which the Y is known, but without access to wellness centers and other amenities offered through a full Facility Membership.

Y ACCESS FOR ALL We believe everyone deserves a Y experience, so the YMCA of Snohomish County offers membership and program pricing based on gross household income. It is our desire to help and remove barriers to participation. Simple verification of your household income (using paycheck stubs and tax return information) allows us to find a six-month renewable membership that matches your needs without playing the waiting game. If you can bring in your household income documentation when you come in to join, the application process can be very quick.

GENERAL INFORMATION OUR MISSION To inspire, nurture, and strengthen culturally vibrant communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

MEMBERSHIP CARD Your membership card is valuable and important. A valid membership card or photo ID is required every time you enter the Y. If you lose your card, you can get a replacement for a small fee. You can also create a digital card to scan at the branch with our mobile app.

GUESTS Your membership includes unlimited complimentary guest passes, stored electronically on your membership account, is good for one redemption at any branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, and admits one person or one family to join you at the Y. At busy times, the Y reserves the right to limit guest usage.

All guests must present photo identification and adhere to facility guidelines. A guest may use Y facilities up to three times in one calendar year with a member. Thereafter, a day pass or membership must be purchased.

Ask a staff member about Y Access For All. PAYMENT OPTIONS Bank draft and credit card payments are a convenient way to pay membership fees and ensure your membership is current. New membership activation requires a one-month payment of membership dues and pro-rated monthly fees at time of enrollment as well as banking account information or a credit card.

Annual payments are perfect for members who want to pay for their membership one year at a time. This option requires payment of 12 months at time of enrollment.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE Members may have their membership held in abeyance once per calendar year upon 15 days advance written notice if membership dues are current. A minimum abeyance of 60 days and a maximum abeyance of 120 days is permitted. Membership will be automatically activated after a term of abeyance expires.

PROGRAM REFUND GUIDELINES The following guidelines are for programs that do not have required deposits (which are non-refundable). Special restrictions apply to Camp, Child Care, Membership and other programs that are clearly stated in their brochures and registrations. Program Directors have the final say to make any allowances other than the following:



Cancelling a program 1 week prior to first day of the program start date=100% full refund less a minimum of a $5 service fee may apply



Cancelling a program after the program start date = refunds will be prorated less a minimum of a $5 service fee may apply



Cancelling a program half-way or more after the program start date = no refund.

Member suggestion cards are available throughout the facility and at Member Services. We pledge to acknowledge each comment and respond appropriately.

GET STARTED An easy first step to getting started at the Y is to contact Member Services for a free wellness connection within your first 30 days of membership. A trained Y professional will meet with you to discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and recommend appropriate wellness programs for you.

FACILITY GUIDELINES • Ages 6 and under must have direct supervision at all times.

• Ages 7-11(if in 5th grade) must be accompanied by a supervising

individual who remains in the building. The supervising individual does not have to be in the same area as the youth. The youth may sign themselves in and out of the program areas if required and follow the age restrictions posted for specific rooms.

• Ages 11- 13 (if in 6th grade) are not required to be accompanied

by a supervising individual but are subject to age restrictions for specific areas.

• Ages 14 and older are considered adults only for the purpose of

use of the facilities and programs. They may sign themselves in and out of program areas, if required, within the facility and may participate in adult fitness classes unaccompanied by an adult.

Orientation to the facility and equipment is strongly recommended.

GENERAL INFORMATION ELECTRONIC USAGE GUIDELINES Due to the advances in mobile and video technology, and for the privacy and protection of all our members, the YMCA of Snohomish County asks that members, participants, and guests adhere to the following guidelines.

• Use of electronic devices is not permitted - at any time - in Y

locker rooms and youth program areas.

• As a courtesy to other members, please set phones to silent while

working out.

• Please limit phone conversations to the lobby or non-workout

areas.

• Taking photos or video without permission from the Executive

Director is not permitted on Y premises.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES No food or drink other than water is permitted in the pool, workout and gym areas. Please limit food items in the Child Watch/Adventure Zone to small grab and go snacks.

SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT In keeping with Y’s health and wellness advocacy, smoking is not permitted on Y’s facility or grounds. All YMCA’s of Snohomish County properties are smoke-free environments.

ATTIRE As a family organization, the YMCA of Snohomish County encourages members and their guests to maintain an appearance that is not disruptive, distracting, nor offensive in any regard and to wear attire that does not present health or safety concerns. Accordingly, Y staff may restrict appearance and attire with special consideration for those specific issues.

These guidelines are meant for example purposes and may not be inclusive of all expectations.

Not permitted  Clothing and jewelry that carry sexual, vulgar, or offensive messages or references, including pictures of the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gang affiliation.



Any apparel item that can be used as a weapon.

Jeans are not permitted in workout areas.

Eye guards are required in racquetball courts.



Proper swim attire is required in the pool and spa areas.

LOCKERS Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. You must bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in the lost and found.

Always secure your belongings. We recommend that you not bring valuables into the facility; the Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Security lockers for small items are available at no cost.

COURT RENTALS Courts may be reserved up to a day in advance by calling Member Services or in person. Reservations are encouraged to guarantee your desired time. There is a one hour reservation limit per person during peak usage times. Racquets, balls, and eye protection can be checked out with your membership card.

LICENSED SCHOOL AGE-CHILD CARE The Monroe Family YMCA provides licensed School-Age Child Care before and after school for ages 5-12 (children must be currently attending kindergarten or elementary school). Program curriculum includes extended learning opportunities such as homework support, literacy development, STEAM activities,games, sports, arts/crafts, cooking, drama, service learning, and science activities. DSHS subsidy accepted.

This plan is paid in equal payments each month for 10 months, September 2019 through the last day of school in June, 2020. The plan includes care 5 days each week for all school days. Half Days are included for children registered to attend After School on their regularly scheduled days. Part time rates also available.

OCCASIONAL LICENSED SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE Drop–in Child Care is offered at our Child Care sites on a space available basis only. Your child must be pre-registered with a current 2019-2020 Child Care Registration Packet on file. Drop in units must be paid in advance and 24 hours reservation is required.

DROP-IN CHILDCARE AT THE Y Our Y Adventure Zone and Child Watch staff will keep your children active and safe while you enjoy your workout. This service is included in your family membership and is a member only privilege.

Use of the Adventure Zone and Child Watch is limited to two hours per family once daily, or one and a half hours per family twice daily if separate parent is

checking in.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CHILD WATCH Child Watch is for children ages six weeks to three years old.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER | AGES 11-18 Come in and stop by to make new friends at the place youth love to hang. We have board games, fun craft supplies, and table top games. there is always something to do in the YDC! A trusted staff member is always on hand to supervise, play a game, or help with homework. Come have fun! No membership required. Healthy snacks provided daily. Shuttle Drops you off at the Y. HOURS: Monday-Friday after school until 6 pm. During the school year only.

MHS ACHIEVERS PROGRAM MAP motivates and advocates for disadvantaged and underrepresented youth to achieve higher education goals. Focused on social justice, MAP encourages students to have meaningful conversations about culture, identity, social responsibility and more. We also provide help with homework, preparation for college readiness and career exploration.

KIDS NIGHT OUT | AGES 6 MONTHS –5TH GRADE This monthly event (every second Saturday*) is an easy way to plan a date night! With fun monthly themes and dinner provided you can be sure you and your children will have a great night out!

Take a break and let us provide physical activities and a healthy snack for your homeschooler. Participants will get a 30 minute swim lesson, a healthy snack, and a 45 minute fit-ness and/or PE activity.

Plus, families may stay and use the facility for the rest of the day!

What are you game for? The YMCA offers a Sports Camp experience to meet the needs of your athlete. Campers develop self-confidence through activities that teach teamwork, sportsmanship, skill-development, and fun regardless of ability or experience.

ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS MIRACLE LEAGUE BASEBALL Miracle League Baseball is designed for individuals requiring additional assistance to play. This program is adapted to be an inclusive, stress free, non-competitive game, where everyone hits, everyone runs bases, and everyone gets home. Buddies are provided for all players while on the field. Parents may sit in the stands to watch and cheer for their player.

ADAPTIVE KARATE | AGES ADAPTIVE 7+ Isshinryu karate taught, an Okinawan style that does not use any kicks above the knee.

All abilities welcome. The class will focus on the development of the student’s personal integrity. Designed to inspires confidence, physical fitness, self-discipline and focus. Escapes and protection is taught but the class does not include aggressive techniques or sparring. Parents are encouraged to participate along-side their child and provide necessary assistance during class.

MIRACLE TEAM BOWLING Miracle Team Bowling takes place at Bowlero Lanes in Lynnwood. There are ramps available and bumpers in the gutters. Those who need assistance are provided a buddy.

ADAPTIVE COOKING CAMP This summer we're partnering with Miracles and Memories to offer a cooking camp for those with diverse abilities. Campers will prepare fresh meals and experience the flavors of summer cuisine.

This camp is led by our instructor Tara Wilson, who has had experience working with participants with diverse abilities. We'll meet offsite at Miracles and Memories Academy Camp will be offered in the morning and afternoon to accommodate both younger and older participants.

LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a 12-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their “new normal.”

The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease. In addition to the physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond.

The bi-weekly 90-minute sessions take place in a small group setting and are adjusted to the individual’s ability level. The program is of no cost to participants and also includes a free Y membership for the session’s duration. (ACTIVELY CHANGING TOGETHER) The Actively Changing Together Program (ACT!) is a nutrition, activity, and self-improvement program for youth ages 8-14 who are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight in order to reduce their chances of developing the disease.

DETAILS: In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will facilitate a small group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes.

The year-long program consists of 25 sessions over the course of one year.

The group will meet every week for 16 weeks, followed by three bi-weekly classes, then six months of follow-up with one session per month.

An estimated one in three U.S. adults has prediabetes, yet just 11% of those with prediabetes know they have it. Prediabetes increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
