There are so many great reasons to join the Y, including: FREE Group Exercise Classes With your membership, you can choose from hundreds of exercise classes for beginners up to the fitness enthusiast. Our Ys offer traditional aerobics, yoga, pilates, cycle and many other group exercise classes, including ZUMBA® and BODYPUMP™, all taught in a fun, welcoming environment. In addition to the group exercise classes, our trained wellness staff can help design a fitness program that meets your individual needs.

A part of our family Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and at the Y, we consider you part of our family. Whether its an extra special greeting on your birthday or special rates on all Y programs and services, you’ll feel right at home at the YMCA.

Family Friendly Programs Family fun doesn’t have to break the bank. Join us for free play time in our XRKade, on our inflatable obstacle courses and in our family-friendly pool. Members also receive discounts on Magic Place afterschool care, day camp, sports and other programs for children and families.

Strength and Cardio Equipment Each Y has a variety of strength and cardio equipment for members. Whether you prefer running on a treadmill, cycling beside a friend, reading while on an elliptical trainer, lifting free weights or using strength training equipment, you can do it at the YMCA.

Quality Child Care We provide quality child care in our Child Watch while you’re working out or participating in other Y activities for up to two hours per day. If you’re looking for longer afterschool care, we offer that too. Check out the Y’s Magic Place for elementary afterschool care and Y Pass for afterschool care for Andrew Lewis middle schoolers.

Swimming and Water Activities All of our facilities have year-round indoor pools that offer recreational swim and water aerobic activities. Certified lifeguards staff our pools, and our swim lessons are taught by trained instructors.

proud of our past excited about our future For the past 130 years, the YMCA of Roanoke Valley has demonstrated that our purpose is deeper than our pools...that our cause is more active than our gyms... that we’re more than just a letter. At the Y, our cause is to strengthen our community; and we’re pleased to introduce the new leader of our cause, President and CEO, Mark Johnson (pictured with chidlren from our YMCA Magic Place camps). Mark’s YMCA career spans 18 years and includes a rich variety of top leadership roles as well as handson grassroots experience working with children, families, health organizations and communities. He has been with the YMCA of Roanoke Valley for the past nine years as a branch director and as a vice president of operations. As a civic leader, Mark has served as a member of the Salem Rotary, the Salem Health Advisory Board, Health Focus of South Western VA board and the Salem Prevention Planning Team. “I am honored and humbled to step into this role with the YMCA, and I look forward to working with our volunteers and staff to address the critical needs of our communities.”

We invite you to stop by and meet Mark and learn how the YMCA is working to strengthen our community.

Well-being for many of our neighbors is all too frequently limited by income or social isolation. In low-income communities, the Y offers opportunities for every child, teen or adult to achieve his or her potential regardless of economic status. With your help, the Y can continue to expand programming and outreach where it is needed most. Please consider volunteering your time, making a contribution, or sharing your story of the Y’s impact.
