Make Up Classes:

Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If the YMCA is unable to schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, there will be no make-up or refund for that class.

Inclement Weather:

If the Lynn Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, swim classes will also be cancelled.

INDEPENDENT SWIM Ages 3 - 5 | F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

This class will use flotation based instruction to introduce four major swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Children will use a level 3 bubble. Prerequisite: Pike class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director.

Beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and will prepare to join our independent swimming classes (without an adult).

In this class, swimmers learn rotary breathing and to improve stamina for swimming strokes. The class goal is to eliminate flotation devices completely and swim independently. Swimmers should use no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Eel class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director.

Group Swim Lessons:

Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers in order to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers signed up will be combined with another class or cancelled.

Observation Policy:

Parents and visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session. All other classes will be closed to spectators. Pictures and videos are strictly prohibited in the pool area.

Teen Learn to Swim - FREE!

This class is for children with little to no swimming experience. Jumping, bobbing, floating, kicking and gliding will be introduced. As the participants become more independent, the skills of reaching, pulling and breathing control will be taught. A noodle may be used for flotation. Swimmers will continue to perfect their strokes and continue working on their speed and distance. Prerequisite: Minnow class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. Thu:

Learn to swim! This class will teach basic swimming skills as well as water safety. Participants can only take this class once. Tue: 4:15pm-4:55pm

Breed Swim Lessons - FREE!

6th - 8th Graders These classes are designed for beginner swimmers from Breed Middle School. The class will consist of basic swimming skills as well as water safety. *Participants should present a valid school ID when registering. Sat: 11:15am-11:55am

OST and Youth Center Lessons:

Lynn Child Care Programs F:$20 M:$30 These classes are designed for beginner swimmers enrolled in the Lynn Youth Center and Out of School Time afterschool programs. Open swim is available for OST and Youth Center participants after the class is completed. Tue: 4:15pm-4:55pm

Adult Beginner/Intermediate:

Adults will learn basic swimming skills in a low pressure class. Swimmers will build confidence and learn the fundamentals of aquatic safety.

Water Fitness:

All year long, no registration required! These classes are low impact water workouts that combine interval training and strengthening exercises for the entire body. Mon-Fri: 9:15am-10:15am Mon-Wed: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Water Resistance Training:

This class is a great workout that combines interval aerobic training and resistance exercises in the water. This class will increase muscle strength and make bones stronger. This is a great calorie burning, low impact way to exercise.

Youth Membership:

A Lynn YMCA Youth and Middle School membership entitles you to member rates for classes & programs, as well as access to recreational swim and open gym.

Girl Time:

6th to 8th grade | FREE for members. Struggling to have those important conversations with your daughter? This girls only workshop is a judgment free place where questions can be answered and discussions can be had without any pressure. The girls will discuss a wide variety of topics focusing on peer pressure, media influences, self-esteem, importance of education, and healthy living. Mon: 4:00pm-5:00pm

Growing in the Greenhouse:

Ages 7–16 | FREE for members. Come learn the basics of running. Build stamina for long distance running and create personal short distance running goals. There will be the opportunity to participate in local 5K races! Thu: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Family Fridays:

On each first Friday of the month, we invite families to enjoy a themed evening featuring varying age appropriate activities run by YMCA staff. It’s a great way to have a hassle free fun-filled family night. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event.

First Friday of each Month, 6:15–7:15pm.

FREE for members. Come try out gardening in our NEW greenhouse! Learn how different things grow, and enjoy growing plants of your own.

Hip Hop Dance Class:

Ages 10 –18 | FREE to the community. Move to the beat with members of the In The Makin’ (ITM) Dance and Step Team! Come learn different styles of hip hop dance in a fun no-judgement atmosphere. Tue: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Rock Wall Wednesdays:

3rd grade + | Free for members. Challenge yourself on our indoor rock climbing wall. Compete against your friends and play interactive games. Students will be encouraged each week to complete individual and group climbing goals. Wed: 5:30pm-6:30pm

60 Seconds or Bust:

Leaders Club:

FREE with Middle School or Family Membership! Leaders Club is focused on service learning and leadership development. Organized activities include: community service, music exploration, team building, fitness activities, mentoring, and community outreach. The Youth will move around the YMCA independently without constant adult supervision. Youth will be expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and mature manner when unsupervised in the building. Leaders club is a Middle School aged after-school drop-in program that is free with a Middle School or Family Membership. Mon-Fri:


Gather Pursue Achieve (GPA):

3rd – 12th grade FREE for members and the community! Join us for the Gather Pursue Achieve study group! Tutors are present to assist with school work and academic skill development. Additional activities will be available to improve reading, writing, computer and communication skills. This program is for those that are serious about academic success. Computer access is available. The program runs during the school year on days that school is in session. Participants must commit to coming at least 3 days per week for at least 6 months. Students who participate in GPA are encouraged to partake in the Healthy Kid’s Kitchen activities once their homework is completed. Mon-Thu: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Ages 7–13 | M: $20 N: $35 Can you balance a glass of water on your head for 60 seconds or bounce 5 ping pong balls on top of a tennis racket? Do you like trying new things and being challenged with a time limit? If so then this class is for YOU!!! 3rd to 12th grade FREE for members and the community! Youth have fun learning about nutrition and healthy eating while making delicious snacks in our Kids Kitchen Café. Students also have the chance to participate in the production of a cookbook. Program runs during the school year on days that school is in session. Students who participate in the Kid’s Healthy Kitchen and Café are encouraged to partake in the Gather Pursue Achieve Study Group while food is cooking in the oven! Mon–Thu: 6:00pm-8:00pm

Lynn Music Studio Clubhouse:

Ages 8-18 FREE for members and the community! Are you interested in singing, rapping, or producing? The Lynn Music Studio Clubhouse is a professional level studio offering free studio time and music instruction to all youth. Our studio is equipped with a control room, isolation booth and live rehearsal room. Improve your vocals, enhance your songwriting, and get your bars up at the Lynn Music Studio. YOUTH SPORTS KAYA: Ages 13-18 | FREE for members.

“Kaya” is a Khmer/Cambodian word meaning “body” and “character.” Our mission is to “SPARK the POWER of YOUTH to GENERATE POSITIVE CHANGE. We strive to accomplish the mission through youth-led events, interactive workshops, film screenings, and creative expression. Activities focus on Healthy Living (fitness and health), Social Responsibility (volunteering and community events), and Youth Development (academic support, team building and social skills). LOL Open Mic: Age: Middle and high school youth with a valid School ID. | FREE to the community! Open Mic Nights and Talent Nights are for middle and high school students. Lift Heavy Look Lean:

Tread and Shred

A personal trainer will guide you and your peers through a challenging treadmill walking or running 30 minute workout. Get in shape for the summer with our results-driven 8 week program. Team up with other participants, a trainer and a nutritionist to bring your wellness to the next level! You and your teammates will be guided through an 8 week fitness and nutrition program that will be fun, motivating and challenging.

In just four weeks this walking and jogging program will gradually transform you from a non- runner and ease you into running a 5k. This 5K training schedule incorporates a mix of running, walking, and resting. This combination will help you reduce the risk of injury, stress and fatigue, all while boasting your enjoyment of physical activity. This program is taught by Bryan McAskill. This training will prepare you to run in our annual 5K, Stride Along the Tide on Saturday, May 20.
