Per state health code regulations, all swimmers must shower prior to entering the pool. While in the pool, all swimmers are required to wear swim caps (Lynn Branch specific rule). Only swim wear designed to be in water may be worn.


Refunds must be requested within the first week of each session. Payment is non-refundable after the first week.

Make Up Classes:

Parents and visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session. All other classes will be closed to spectators. Pictures and videos are strictly prohibited in the pool area.

Group Swim Lessons:

Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers in order to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers signed up will be combined with another class or cancelled.

Observation Policy:

Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If the YMCA is unable to schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, there will be no make-up or refund for that class. If the Lynn Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, swim classes will also be cancelled.

Membership Guide:

Children are introduced to submerging, kicking, and pulling combinations, floating and swimming without a flotation device. Swim diapers must be worn for participants who are not potty trained.

Parent/Child 3: Ages 3-4

Beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will be introduced. In this class children learn to love the water and will prepare to join our independent swimming classes (without an adult). Sat: 11:00am-11:30am Sun: 10:00am-10:30am

Skippers: Ages 2.9 - 3

This class helps children transition smoothly from the Parent/Child series to Independent swim courses. Parents are not required to be in the pool, but may join in to help with transition upon the instructor’s recommendation. Sat: 11:00am-11:30am Sun: 10:00am-10:30am

INDEPENDENT SWIM Ages 3 - 5 | F: $49 M: $73 N: $94

This class will use flotation based instruction to introduce four major swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Children will use a level 3 bubble. Prerequisite: Pike class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. In this class, swimmers learn rotary breathing and to improve stamina for swimming strokes. The class goal is to eliminate flotation devices completely and swim independently. Swimmers should use no more than a level 2 bubble. Prerequisite: Eel class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. Star Fish:

This class is an introduction to the front crawl with alternating arm recovery and rhythmic breathing. The backstroke will also be taught. At the end, participants will be able to swim the length of the pool on their front and back. Prerequisite: Ray class completion, or child passes an evaluation provided by the Aquatics Director. This class is for children with little to no swimming experience. Jumping, bobbing, floating, kicking and gliding will be introduced. Breed Swim Lessons - FREE!

6th - 8th Graders These classes are designed for beginner swimmers from Breed Middle School. The class will consist of basic swimming skills as well as water safety. *Participants should present a valid school ID when registering.

Adult Beginner:

Adult Stroke Development:

AQUATIC PROGRAMS Lifeguard Training:

Have you ever thought of becoming a lifeguard? We will work with your swimming level to get you “rescue ready� for summer 2017! Participants will be trained and certified to work for the Lynn YMCA. This is a great opportunity to become a stronger swimmer, learn new skills, and become a part of the lifeguard workforce! The certification course is separate and will be held during 2017 High School spring break. Winter certifications are also available for those who qualify. **Participants must be 16 years of age by May 2017 to qualify. Registration is required for participation, and participants are strongly recommended to attend all training sessions as listed below to maintain a part of the program.

Swim Team:

M: $35 N: $70 The Lynn YMCA swim team is a competitive environment for swimmers looking to continue building their skills in a team format. The team focuses on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns.

Water Fitness:

All year long, no registration required! These classes are low impact water workouts that combine interval training and strengthening exercises for the entire body. Mon-Fri: 9:15am-10:15am Mon-Wed: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Water Resistance Training:

This class is a great workout that combines interval aerobic training and resistance exercises in the water. Led by a certified water fitness instructor, this class will increase muscle strength and make bones stronger. This is a great calorie burning, low impact way to exercise. A Lynn YMCA Youth and Middle School membership entitles you to member rates for classes & programs, as well as access to recreational swim and open gym.

Girl Time: 6th to 8th grade

FREE to members. Struggling to have those important conversations with your daughter? This girls only workshop is a judgment free place where questions can be answered and discussions can be had without any pressure. The girls will discuss a wide variety of topics focusing on peer pressure, media influences, self-esteem, importance of education, and healthy living. Mon: 4:00pm-5:00pm

Track Stars: Ages 7 – 16

FREE to members. Come learn the basics of running. Build stamina for long distance running and create personal short distance running goals. There will be the opportunity to participate in local 5K races! Thu: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Family Fridays:

On each first Friday of the month, we invite families to enjoy a themed evening featuring varying age appropriate activities run by YMCA staff. It’s a great way to have a hassle free fun-filled family night. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event.

Rock Wall Wednesdays: 3rd grade +

Free to members. Challenge yourself on our indoor rock climbing wall. Compete against your friends and play interactive games. Students will be encouraged each week to complete individual and group climbing goals. Wed: 5:30pm-6:30pm

$10 per student. Let your child stay late on a Friday night to enjoy a themed evening of fun-filled activities, while parents get a few hours all to themselves! Friday Night Ins are put on by YMCA staff. Permission slips are available and must be returned in advance. A light dinner is included.

60 Seconds or Bust: Ages 7 – 13

M: $20 N: $35 Can you balance a glass of water on your head for 60 seconds or bounce 5 ping pong balls on top of a tennis racket? Do you like trying new things and being challenged with a time limit? If so then this class is for YOU!!! If you’re up for a new fun challenges each week then you’re ready for “60 Seconds or Bust.” Sat: 11:00am-11:45am

Leaders Club:

FREE with Middle School or Family Membership! Leaders Club is focused on service learning and leadership development. Organized activities include: community service, music exploration, team building, fitness activities, mentoring, and community outreach. The Youth will move around the YMCA independently without constant adult supervision. Youth will be expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and mature manner when unsupervised in the building. Leaders club is a Middle School aged after-school drop-in program that is free with a Middle School or Family Membership. Mon-Fri:


Gather Pursue Achieve (GPA):

3rd – 12th grade FREE to members and the community! Join us for the Gather Pursue Achieve study group! Tutors are present to assist with school work and academic skill development. Additional activities will be available to improve reading, writing, computer and communication skills. This program is for those that are serious about academic success. Computer access is available. The program runs during the school year on days that school is in session. Participants must commit to coming at least 3 days per week for at least 6 months. Students who participate in GPA are encouraged to partake in the Healthy Kid’s Kitchen activities once their homework is completed. Mon-Thu: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Kid’s Healthy Kitchen Café:

3rd to 12th grade FREE to members and the community! Youth have fun learning about nutrition and healthy eating while making delicious snacks in our Kids Kitchen Café. Students also have the chance to participate in the production of a cookbook. Program runs during the school year on days that school is in session. KAYA Ages 13-18 | FREE to members.

“Kaya” is a Khmer/Cambodian word meaning “body” and “character.” Our mission is to “SPARK the POWER of YOUTH to GENERATE POSITIVE CHANGE. We strive to accomplish the mission through youth-led events, interactive workshops, film screenings, and creative expression. Activities focus on Healthy Living (fitness and health), Social Responsibility (volunteering and community events), and Youth Development (academic support, team building and social skills). Youth Basketball League:

Lift Heavy Look Lean:

Basketball leagues for boys and girls, ages 5 - 14. This league will run for two sessions, Winter and Spring I. Practice: Placements and scrimmages will take place each Saturday in January (January 7, 14, 21 and 28). League Games: Games will take place each Saturday in February and March (February 4, 11, 18, and 25 and March 4, 11, 18 and 25). Playoff: Championship will take place each Saturday in April (April 1, 8, 15). Youth may play out of their bracket depending on their skill level. There will be 20 minute team practices before each game. League participants will receive a T-Shirt and will have an end of the season party (April 15). Couch to 5K Training Program:

M:$25 N:$40 $5 discount if you sign up with a partner! In just seven weeks this walking and jogging program will gradually transform you from a non-runner and ease you into running a 5K. The 5K training schedule incorporates a mix of running, walking and resting. This combination helps reduce the risk of injury, stress and fatigue while boosting your enjoyment of physical activity. This training will prepare you to Stride Along the Tide, and run in your first 5K race at 9 AM May 20th, 2017.
