Why choose Us PARENTS TRUST US

We provide high quality camp experiences for your child, all focused on our Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Safety

Professional Role Models

The American Camp Association™ (ACA) accredits each of our day camp programs. This independent body establishes standards for key aspects of camp operation, program quality, health and safety of campers. ACA™ accreditation includes an on-site visitation every three years. Additionally, many YMCA Day Camp staff are trained in CPR and First Aid.

Our day camp staff are selected based on their experience, attitude, skills and ability to accept and demonstrate the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Our Professional Role Models attend at least 24 hours of training covering topics including risk management, diversity and behavior management, YMCA Mission and Character Development, child abuse, games, skits and songs, sports education and team building.

Self-Respect Our goal: building self-respect through skill development for all campers. Camp provides worthwhile experiences such as creating unique and artistic crafts, finding animals in their habitat or learning how to properly kick a soccer ball. Camp counselors are trained to highlight teachable moments and emphasize accomplishments and successes in all campers.

Healthy Food At the Y, we believe in healthy living, which includes providing healthy snacks, and in some cases meals, to our campers. We strive to offer fresh fruit, vegetables and other nutritious snacks to our campers. Not all camps will provide snacks during camp hours.

KIDS LOVE US

There’s no place like the Y for kids in the summer. At YMCA Day Camps, kids can: • Make new friends • Play sports and games

• Spend time outside • Get messy

• Learn funny songs and skits • BE A KID!

WE BELIEVE Our Cause Defines Us

We believe our camps should exemplify the Y’s commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We believe creativity, fun and competition should develop the whole person - building healthy, confident, values-centered individuals. The Y is about more than looking after kids. It’s about nurturing their development, by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and building self-reliance through the YMCA’s Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
