Action for Children (AFC) The YMCA accepts Action for Children (AFC) funds. Action for Children is a child care financial assistance program provided by the Illinois Department of Human Service for working families. Don’t Wait! The process for applying can take up to 45 days for new applicants to receive approval. Families must provide proof of household income to qualify. We must have an approval letter before the first week of camp. After being accepted to the program, you are responsible for paying the parentassigned monthly co-pay each month in addition to the differential. The differential is the daily cost of our program minus the daily rate paid by AFC. If you qualify, your assistance can be applied to all of your weeks of camp. EXTENDED CARE Traditional Camp runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Extended care is available for no additional fee. It starts as early as 7 a.m. and ends in the evening as late as 6 p.m. Extended care is less structured than regular camp hours, but campers will be well-supervised and engaged in a variety of activities.

CAMP LEADERSHIP Are you overwhelmed with the choices and have little time and resources to decide how to best mix and match your child’s summer experience? We’re here to help! We have director-level staff who welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your camper to go over all the program choices and different options for your child. Kiesha Abel Membership Experience Manager 773.326.2714

Learn all about our fantastic summer camp during Camp Information and Meet the Staff night Friday, June 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A parent handbook will be provided to each camper family at this meeting.

CHARACTER IS WHAT MATTERS Building character is at the core of YMCA programming. At summer camp, your camper will learn: CARING: Putting others first. Being kind and expressing gratitude. HONESTY: Keeping their promises. Building a good reputation and being loyal. RESPECT: Being courteous and polite. Having good manners and valuing others. RESPONSIBILITY: Always do your best. Be accountable for your choices.

SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY Your child’s safety is the number one priority at our camps! Each camp counselor and staff member attends extensive training where they obtain certification in first aid and CPR. In addition, they learn the Y’s emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, customer service and the preparation and implementation of age-appropriate activities for each specific camp.

FUN ym

Looking for an overnight, resident camp experience for your child or your family this summer? The YMCA of Metro Chicago has five resident camp options in beautiful pristine areas sure to provide special memories to last a lifetime.

YMCA CAMP DUNCAN

Since 1921, Camp Duncan has provided safe, quality camping programs for boys and girls ages 7 to 15 and Teen Adventure Camps for 15 to 17 year olds. All activities are geared to the developmental level of the campers. Camp Duncan is a co-ed, summer resident camp located near Fox Lake, Illinois, on 300 acres.

YMCA CAMP MACLEAN

Camp MacLean is located just two miles east of Burlington, Wisconsin, just 20 minutes from Lake Geneva, on 247 acres of woods and grassland property. The camp offers fun and challenging activities such as swimming, climbing, boating, kayaking, archery, hiking, and much more. We also leave room for plenty of traditional programs, including sing-alongs, campfires and campouts.

YMCA CAMP PINEWOOD

Traditional but up-to-date, Camp Pinewood features 16 cabins on a private, spring-fed lake, with every activity from sailing to horseback riding. The camp is nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest near Muskegon, Michigan. It’s convenient but remote enough to ensure that everyone enjoys the natural beauty of the camp’s 200-acre facility.

YMCA FAMILY CAMP NAWAKWA

Family Camp Nawakwa offers a unique experience- an opportunity to bring together whole families, not just children, through camping. The camp sits on 180 acres of pristine forest lands, and includes wetlands and lakes with abundant wildlife. The camp is nestled in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, which is home to the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

YMCA CAMP INDEPENDENCE

CHGO17

Camp Independence is a special place for campers age seven and up with spina bifida. At camp, kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. We teach self-reliance, a love for nature, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character. Our counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.
