ACTION FOR CHILDREN (AFC) Don’t wait! Apply now! Forms available at the High Ridge YMCA. Action for Children (AFC) is a child-care financial assistance program provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services for low-income, working families. You may pick up applications, redetermination forms and change-of-provider forms at the High Ridge YMCA. Action for Children can take up to a month to give approval, so you must plan accordingly in order to have approval before the first week of camp. If you are not approved before the first day of camp, you must pay the full price until approval is received. Regardless of your approval status, you are required to put $30 down at the time of registration for each week of camp. This money will be applied toward your total monthly payment fees. After you are accepted in the program, you are responsible for paying the parent-assigned monthly co-pay each month in addition to the differential. AFC Monthly Parent co-payments are issued by Action for Children according to the information the parent provides. This amount is a contract between the parent and AFC. The differential is the daily cost of our program less the daily rate paid by AFC. For example, if your child is a member of the YMCA and your AFC parent assigned co-payment is $90 per month, you are also responsible for a differential of $90 per month. The total monthly parent fees would then be $180. TOTAL MONTHLY PARENT FEE

Weekly Differential ($4.50*5)

= $180

= $90

= $22.50

- $28.50

= $4.50

Weekly Differential ($4.50*5)

= $230

= $320

= $57.50

- $28.50

= $11.50

FUN ym

Looking for an overnight, resident camp experience for your child or your family this summer? The YMCA of Metro Chicago has five resident camp options in beautiful pristine areas sure to provide special memories to last a lifetime.

Since 1921, Camp Duncan has provided safe, quality camping programs for boys and girls ages 7 to 15 and Teen Adventure Camps for 15 to 17 year olds. All activities are geared to the developmental level of the campers. Camp Duncan is a co-ed, summer resident camp located near Fox Lake, Illinois, on 300 acres.

Camp MacLean is located just two miles east of Burlington, Wisconsin, just 20 minutes from Lake Geneva, on 247 acres of woods and grassland property. The camp offers fun and challenging activities such as swimming, climbing, boating, kayaking, archery, hiking, and much more. We also leave room for plenty of traditional programs, including sing-alongs, campfires and campouts.

Traditional but up-to-date, Camp Pinewood features 16 cabins on a private, spring-fed lake, with every activity from sailing to horseback riding. The camp is nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest near Muskegon, Michigan. It’s convenient but remote enough to ensure that everyone enjoys the natural beauty of the camp’s 200-acre facility.

Family Camp Nawakwa offers a unique experience- an opportunity to bring together whole families, not just children, through camping. The camp sits on 180 acres of pristine forest lands, and includes wetlands and lakes with abundant wildlife. The camp is nestled in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, which is home to the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

Camp Independence is a special place for campers age seven and up with spina bifida. At camp, kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. We teach self-reliance, a love for nature, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character. Our counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.
