You may bring it to the Foglia YMCA Member Service Desk. Packets are available online or at the Member Service Desk. • Your child’s enrollment papers and releases must be submitted in their entirety the Wednesday before your child’s first day of camp or they will not be able to attend camp. Deposits will go toward the total payment of the camp week. • Specialty Camps must be paid in full at the time of registration. • Balances are due by Wednesday, the week prior to your child attending camp or there will be a $15 late fee per child. • There will be a $15 switching fee to maintain staff/camper ratios, to switch or transfer camps after the Wednesday of the week prior to camp. • Refunds for day camp and specialty camps are only made if your child is ill and has a doctor’s note to accompany the request. ILLINOIS ACTION FOR CHILDREN FUNDING

Action for Children (AFC) is a child care financial assistance program provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services for low-income, working families. DHS child care subsidy can take up to two months to give approval; you must plan accordingly in order to have approval before the first week of camp. Forms are available at our member service desk along with local offices. Please turn all paperwork in by March 1, 2017 in order to have approval. For more information, please contact Billing Coordinator Therese Abbound at 847.410.5403 or tabboud@ymcachicago.org.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

It is the goal of the YMCA to provide education, social and physical development services to people regardless of their ability to pay. Waiver or reduction of fees are available, subject to facility and program capacity and demonstrated need. Scholarship applications will be accepted through April 15 and will be reviewed after that date.

CHGO03

Due to limited YMCA scholarship funds, we require all families in need of financial assistance to first request funding from Action for Children (AFC). If a family is denied AFC funding, they may then apply for the financial assistance scholarship that the YMCA offers. Applications are available at the YMCA and online. Applicants are required to bring the AFC denial letter and submit it with scholarship application or they will not to be considered for the financial assistance program. This must be done annually. Scholarships are only available to Family Memberships.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURES

Parents are required to sign their child in and out of camp. For your convenience, we offer “curbside” arrival so that parents do not have to leave their car for drop-off. For pick-up, everyone must park and go to the sign-out table and present a photo ID. Anyone picking up your child must be listed on the ‘Authorized to pick up my child’ section of the registration form. If an individual does not have a photo ID and is not listed as an authorized pick-up, we will not be able to release the child. This procedure will be strictly enforced and is for your child’s protection.

INSURANCE

The Foglia YMCA does not carry individual camper insurance. It is the responsibility of the camper and his or her family to provide insurance.

BILLING

If you sign up for automatic draft, you will not receive an invoice unless requested. If you sign up for multiple weeks and do not do automatic draft, you will receive an invoice via mail and email for the session(s) you are registered for. Payment is due on the Wednesday before your child is to attend camp. Your child will not be able to attend camp if payment is not received. Specialty Camps must be paid in full upon registration. If you have any questions regarding pricing or billing, please contact the Billing Coordinator Therese Abboud at 847.410.5403 or tabboud@ymcachicago.org.

YEAR-ROUND PRESCHOOL (cont. from previous page)

The early years of a child’s life are an exciting time to embark on new adventures in the world of learning. At the Y, we regard each child as a unique individual who needs to be understood, guided, encouraged and appreciated. Our preschool program offers children the abilities to learn through play and to confidently explore and build positive self-esteem. Children’s readiness for formal schooling is most effectively promoted by play experiences in which they feel the freedom to try out new ideas, practical skills and imitate adult roles. Children are encouraged to build social skills that help build negotiation skills, conflictresolution skills and friendships. Our curriculum promotes individual children’s growth through learning, exploration and creativity. We are proud to begin implementing the Creative Curriculum, which is fully aligned with state and national Early Learning Standards. The curriculum focuses on the interests of children, which creates the study topics of our lessons. The Creative Curriculum promotes social, emotional and physical development, language, literacy, math and cognitive skills. The curriculum also includes science, social studies and the arts to develop the whole child based on their individual developmental needs. Our program encourages children to explore their creativity through multi-sensory experiences and create a language-rich environment to promote and foster a love of reading. Children are exposed to art, music, math, technology and science as they develop

expressive and receptive language and gross motor skills. Children spend time indoors and outdoors as experienced staff lead preschool children in age-appropriate, hands-on play, nature experiences, sports, swimming and occasional off-site field trips. Although our goal is to prepare students for Kindergarten, we feel that school-readiness is more than academic skills. It encompasses the whole range of physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills that children need to thrive in a school setting. Throughout the summer months, the children will spend more time experiencing our curriculum outdoors. Whether your preschool child’s interests lie in sports, performing arts, creative arts, science or nature, our preschool program provides a wide range of activities that will make your child’s summer unforgettable. During the summer months, we will allow week to week enrollment. We strive to form partnerships with every family. These partnerships are based on mutual trust, understanding, respect and common goals. Our preschool program is DCFS-licensed. Our full-day and half-day program options give children an opportunity to fully engage and explore in a child-centered environment. We will offer before care from 7 to 9 a.m., preschool from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and after care from 3 to 6 p.m. Morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack will be included. If you have any questions regarding preschool camp, please contact Amy Hirsh, Early Learning Program Director, at 847.438.5373 or ahirsh@ ymcachicago.org.

All activities are geared to the developmental level of the campers. Camp Duncan is a co-ed, summer resident camp located near Fox Lake, Illinois, on 300 acres.

YMCA CAMP MACLEAN

Camp MacLean is located just two miles east of Burlington, Wisconsin, just 20 minutes from Lake Geneva, on 247 acres of woods and grassland property. The camp offers fun and challenging activities such as swimming, climbing, boating, kayaking, archery, hiking, and much more. We also leave room for plenty of traditional programs, including sing-alongs, campfires and campouts.

YMCA CAMP PINEWOOD

Traditional but up-to-date, Camp Pinewood features 16 cabins on a private, spring-fed lake, with every activity from sailing to horseback riding. The camp is nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest near Muskegon, Michigan. YMCA FAMILY CAMP NAWAKWA

Family Camp Nawakwa offers a unique experience- an opportunity to bring together whole families, not just children, through camping. The camp sits on 180 acres of pristine forest lands, and includes wetlands and lakes with abundant wildlife. The camp is nestled in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, which is home to the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

YMCA CAMP INDEPENDENCE

CHGO03

Camp Independence is a special place for campers age seven and up with spina bifida. At camp, kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. We teach self-reliance, a love for nature, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character. Our counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.
