SWIM LESSONS

This winter, we’re launching a brand-new swim lesson program. This new child-centered curriculum will help your child swim confidently at his or her own pace. All classes will focus on water safety, having fun while learning, building character and increasing self-confidence. We’ll provide parents with helpful resources and weekly feedback to help them be active participants in their child’s learning process. Due to the new Y lesson format, there will be no make up lessons. When signing your child up for swim lessons, all you have to do is choose the appropriate age range: • Parent/Child (6 months to 3 years) • Preschool (3-5 years) • School Age (5-12 years)

SATURDAY SWIM LESSONS

Saturdays will now be devoted to swim lessons. Reserve your space today! Register in person, online or over the phone. Contact 773.721.9100 for more information.

CHGO017

Then, on the first day of class, the instructor will determine which of the following skill levels your child will begin in. From there, they’ll progress up through the levels at their own pace. View and register for our programs at register.ymcachicago.org. 2017 Winter/Spring Programs

STORY SQUAD

Young people pay attention to their peers, neighbors and environment in ways adults sometimes overlook. Story Squad, a new audio storytelling program of the South Chicago YMCA’s Youth Safety and Violence Prevention (YSVP) program, empowers youth to channel their experiences through personal audio stories that are shared within their community and throughout the world. The curriculum focuses on self-reflection, critical thinking and storytelling skills to help the youth analyze and process the causes and impact of violence in their communities. “The youth learned what kind of support they might need when difficult thoughts and feelings surface and how to extend that support to their peers,” says Grant Buhr, who developed and runs the program. For more information, contact Grant Buhr at 773.418.4240 or gbuhr@ymcachicago.org.
