PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENT & THE ARTS

Sparking a child’s love of learning and exploration. Preschool is an exciting time as children embark on new adventures in the world of learning. At the Y, we regard each child as a unique individual who needs to be understood, guided, encouraged and appreciated. Our programs provide activities where children learn, explore, build a positive self-image and develop strong social and emotional relationships. Y programs encourage children to explore their creativity through multisensory experiences and create a language-rich environment to promote and foster a love of reading. Children are exposed to art, music, math and science as they develop expressive and receptive language and gross motor skills. Contact Ashley Kearney. Kiddie College Introduce your child to other preschoolers as they play in this healthy preschool-style learning environment. This program (3 days/week max) is taught by instructors with childhood education experience. SWIM LESSONS & SWIM TEAMS

Last summer, we launched a brand-new swim lesson program. This new child-centered curriculum will help your child swim confidently at his or her own pace. All classes will focus on water safety, having fun while learning, building character and increasing self-confidence. We’ll provide parents with helpful resources and weekly feedback to help them be active participants in their child’s learning process. Due to the Y lesson format, there will be no make up lessons.

• Parent/Child (6 months to 3 years) • Preschool (3-5 years) • School Age (5-12 years) Then, on the first day of class, the instructor will determine which of the following skill levels your child will begin in. From there, they’ll progress up through the levels at their own pace.

PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

It’s never too late to learn how to swim, a vital skill that could save your life. Already know how to swim and want to improve your stroke and hone your skills? The Y has programs to help you do just that. We offer 30-minute private and semi-private swim lessons. Class times are set up based on your schedule and your instructor. Private lesson packages are purchased in sets of one, three, five, seven and nine.

HOW DO I ARRANGE A PRIVATE SWIM LESSON?

We make it as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Fill out our request form online at ymcachicago.org/lakeview/ programs/private-swim-lessons or at our membership desk. Within three business days, the Aquatics Coordinator will find the instructor that best fits your needs. 2. The instructor will contact you to arrange the first lesson. 3. When you arrive for your first lesson, you can purchase a package of private swim lessons and hand the printed receipt to your instructor. Purchase a package prior to your first lesson, and provide a receipt to your instructor. For any other questions, please contact Julia Gillmeister, Aquatics Coordinator, at 773.326.3003 or jgillmeister@ymcachicago.org
