T-BALL This is an indoor fun introductory T-Ball course which will provide players with team building skills and confidence. Players will learn the basics of throwing, hitting and catching the ball. Children must have a glove to play. YOUTH & ADULT SPARRING CLASS Tae Kwon Do means, the way of the hand and the foot. Throughout this class, you will learn how to defend yourself through Tae Kwon Do free sparring techniques utilizing both your hands and feet to block, dodge, kick, and punch. You will learn the theory of fighting and how and when these theories are applicable in real life situations. This class will focus primarily on kicking and punching drills in order to learn how to free spar with an opponent in a safe and fun classroom setting. Belt testing has been incorporated into this program. This is not a session-based class, registration must be renewed monthly. Cost includes uniform. » FAMILY PROGRAMS KIDS FUN NIGHT *Added Benefit for Parkway Community YMCA Family Members Only. Every Friday night the Parkway Community YMCA offers Kids Fun Nights. These nights will afford parents the ability to leave the building for a fun few hours on the town. These events are a family member benefit that is exclusive to our Parkway Community Family YMCA members. Each week we will have pizza and our trained staff lead the children with crafts and games. You have the opportunity to register up to two times a month! So don’t miss out! 24 hour cancellation policy: Families who don’t cancel and do not attend, are subject to a $25 charge per child registered. TEEN MONEY EXPERIENCE 8th grade and up Our program uses a life simulator and graphic novel to paint a picture of what your future might look like: do you want to be a teacher, a doctor, an engineer? Will you go to college, technical school, or straight to work? Do you want to start a family or own your own house someday? Maybe you’d prefer to travel the world? FIRST FRIDAYS *Exclusively for Saint Theresa Families First Friday of every month, on Saint Theresa Early Dismissal Days, the Parkway Community YMCA will provide enriching activities in a safe and structured environment. » TEEN/LEADERSHIP LEADERS CLUB Leaders Club is a nationwide teen program for youth ages 13-18 that teaches leadership skills through community service, volunteerism and personal growth. This group meets weekly and has 4 non-mandatory regional “leaders events” through the year. This program is free, except for the regional events. The cost of regional events are off-set by fundraising. YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT This program is a model government program. High school teens will have the ability to enhance leadership, communication and debate skills. These skills are practiced through emulating a branch of the government, and will meet students from around the state. Teens will take part in four preparatory Saturday events leading up to a 2-day conference at the State House. This program costs $575. The cost of this program is offset by grants and fundraising. CPR/AED This combined CPR and AED program is specifically for non-medical professionals in this field. The program is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and is based upon the 2010 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Registration required at least 1 week in advance. November 2nd 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm F $50 C $100 BABY SITTING COURSE Ages 11-19 This certification course includes information on child development, feeding and changing of babies. This large group training incorporates a variety of equipment such as slam balls, kettlebells, agility ladders, sand bags and battle ropes among others using proper techniques that keep workouts effective, challenging and exciting. Offering Two - 4 week sessions Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, at work or in sports. While using various muscles in the upper and lower body at the same time, functional fitness exercises highly emphasize core stability. Perfecting these movement patterns will put you in the best position to then successfully progress to common lifts such as Bench Press, Deadlift and Squat without injury. » AQUA FITNESS HYDRO LITE AND LIVELY This water cycle class is designed to increase flexibility and muscle strength, as well as improve coordination, balance, endurance, and the ability to perform activities of daily living. TRIATHLON TRAINING Are you looking to compete in your first triathlon or are you a veteran triathlete? This class is structured on a swim/spin training. The workouts are designed around your fitness level to help everyone achieve an increase in endurance and speed. A 10 minute transition period will allow you to change into biking gear and head to the spin studio for an intensive spin session.
