00 The Final Major Project [ In Progress ]

Manifesto Subject Four-storey building for exhibition, studio and residential use contain entire large spaces lit by natural light and large windows. Site The selected building is one of the blocks at The Economist Plaza, located at St. James’s Street. Currently, the building is used in 3 different ways, which is for Sakenohana restaurant, The bank building and Horne & Harvey estate agents. The highlight of this site is the surrounding art galleries. There are approx. 30-40 art galleries around, most of them sell fine art works. The large vertical windows allow natural light go through the entire building. Also, the concrete of the site’s boundary wall and the steel structure created the unique texture of the building, which is outstanding it from all buildings around. Proposal After studying at this site, I realised this area is famous for art galleries with fine artworks. If a large number of paintings and artworks are displaying here, which means many artists and people would be visiting this area too. However, I found all galleries just display their artworks in front of the window, which led to no interaction between visitors and artworks happens inside the galleries. Also, there is no specific studio for artists or exhibition for artworks around. Therefore, I propose to re-use the four-storey post-war building for the exhibition and art installations on the pavement level, plaza level and floor one with double ceiling height, the studio on the second floor with large vertical windows and natural light for visitors to understand the storey behind; the resident on the third floor for artists who visit London sometimes.

01 The Stair Project [ 2016 ] In this project, I was required to produce 3 visuals of my stair design, using 3 different techniques/media or a combination of techniques/media. Stair structure type Cantilevered Stair - No string, one end of the steps is embedded in the wall. Configuration type Double-staircase with single straight flight Material of stairs Concrete Lighting for stairs Natural sunlight

Inspiration for Visual 1 • • •

Intricate Mess Structure

Media / Technique Sketch + Overlay lines + Photoshop Concept Visual 1 is showing how to represent stairs’ design, structure and feeling by repeating one element which is the straight line. It is showing the design of stairs in an intricate way. And photoshop contexts inside to bring out the atmosphere and environment around the stairs. This visual is helping people to understand how does the stair design match to the exterior context. http://www.kylehenderson.co.uk/

Inspiration for Visual 2 • • •

Asseble Shape Shadow

Media / Technique Model + Photoshop Concept The material of this model for visual 2 is grey card with concrete painting finish, which is representing a strong structure with the rough texture of the stairs’ design. Photoshop the green context inside to make a contrast with the stairs. The contrast makes the stairs become more striking. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/6e/c0/11/6ec0113d5ccfe6ccbae82f29aa5d9042.jpg

Inspiration for Visual 3 • • •

Minimalism Clean looking Clear structure

Media / Technique Laser cut whitecard + Overlay + Photoshop Concept In this visual, I aim to reduce and hide the mess, instead of showing it. Also, the other purpose of this overlaying concept model is guiding people to look at the stairs design from a different angle. http://41.media.tumblr.com/6b6a1d7a1b0d56b2d705db595c82ad9c/tumblr_musejza66p1scxq8ko1_500.jpg

02 Speedo [ 2015 ]

Design concept - Float The design is intended on creating a memorable moment inside the pop up store. Location will be at the city centre in U.K. and Europe. Design concept is “Float” which is one of the most memorable moment while people go swimming. In this design, I want people to feel the floating although they do not know how to swim. Therefore, I create the pool for white plastic balls, everyone can feel “Floating” when they are lying on it. All elements created in this design are for everyone to have an immersive impression experience and be impressed on Speedo and swimming. The design is to make everyone feel swimming is easy, interesting, and Speedo is the one step away from this memorable experience.

03 Lewis PR, Singapore [ 2014 ]

Site Analysis 81 Southbridge Road, Singapore 5,650 sqft shophouse building at central business district area. •

Excellent location, one or two blocks from 3 trainlines and two bus arteries. Large unique space with ‘wow’ factor will create an impact on clients, prospects, employees and candidates, it is space that people will talk/tweet about and remember it is not just another office building. Excellent space for small and medium sized events, allowing client to host more at low cost. Company Profile

Globle communication agency specializing in digital PR, online PR, technology PR and consumer PR. Their foundation in creativity and storytelling remains at the heart of the company. Offices are located at America, APAC, Europe and U.K. Design Brief This office for a PR communication agency firm occupies a four-storey shophouse building in the central business district area of Singapore. The shophouse’s existing concrete shell and wood flooring were stripped clean and left exposed. The new Lewis PR office is about functionality and flexibility in the personal workspace, and choice and diversity in the community areas, such as meeting room, enclosed phone booth, open discussion bench. The interior signals playfulness and the enjoyment of being in your place. It also reflects the genuinely cheerful and friendly spirit the company radiates. The graphic wall and door coverings area custom-made photographs of reality - a kind of meta-concept where nothing is what it seems to be, quite like the digital world itself where nothing is ‘for real’ but exists because it depicts the real world. Creating an environment that holistically supports the staffs in their work and well-being.

04 Paramount Bed, Singapore [ 2014 ]

Company Profile Paramount bed is Japan’s No.1 hospital bed manufacturer, a world-leading healthcare technology company. Design Brief The office cum showroom at One Raffles Place is their first Southeast Asia headquarter. Therefore a significant requirement in their brief was that their new showroom, the shared and private meeting areas, the office areas and reception should establish a distinctive identity for them. The declaration of independence begins as visitors arrive, with a vigorous and attention seeking consideration of the conventional reception area and showroom. In consideration of client need a wide space for display their product, the design is more focus on the ceiling, lighting and flooring instead of build anything unnecessary. Make use of different flooring materials to distinguish different function of the entire space.

05 Pasona, Singapore [ 2014 ]

Company Profile Pasona, well-established for 30 years, is a leading Japanese-based recruitment firm providing staffing services of Japanese native, Japanese-speaking, local and other multilingual talents for various industries. Design Brief The project addressed the brief by creating a workplace that embodies a professional but not extravagant, modern but not minimalist interior, providing value for money, yet endorsing pasona as a leader in the services industry. The design strategy consists of vivid colours matched with simple, white forms. The entire office has been separated in 2 different function area. One is meeting area, there are 3 meeting rooms with mainly use for serving staff interview applicant. Also one conference room which can fit in 12 pax of employees for an official meeting. The other area is general work area. Crucial issue in the design strategy is the space planning which have to fit in a large number of workstations.
