4. Rapperswil-Jona Residential Village Duties: Research, Scheme Design, 3D Model Making, Rendering This project is conceived as a diverse village: a compact Eco-district with social, spatial, and natural heterogeneity. The urban massing forms a hierarchy of natural landscapes. By gently rotating the floor plates from a conventional apartment block, the resulting gesture produces individual terraces that are spatially distinct: each terrace has unique views with two exposures and direct sun.

2. Brighton Beach Accelerator Published in Abstract 2017 Columbia GSAPP Maximizing the current capacity of Brighton beach to cater to its specific community by reinforce its visibilities and invisibilities.

Brighton beach is a territory where certain regimes of observation are constructing its community. This community deploys the strategies of hiding or maximizing visibility in order to operate within Brighton Beach.


Shuttle on Sand When drive on sand, the shuttle puts down its wheel, so it can drive freely on sand. Russian people like drinking. They secretly drink on sand avoiding policemen’s notice. Shuttles are prefect places allowing them to drink on beach.

Shuttle in Water When drive in water, shuttles put away their wheels and put down their tentacles to help them move more smoothly. When shuttles stop, tantacles nail into ground to be stable.

Seafood Supermarket Fishes from the sea feed the community. People see fresh fishes moving through transparent tubes and choose what to buy.


Fishpond Fry is raised to keep ecology balance. Waste from restaurant is transported to fishponds and used to feed tiny fish in them. Fish Display Fish is displayed in glass balls. Restaurant Chef cooks fished choosen by customers

Adaptable Deck When tide is high, part of deck will be pulled up to prevent water. Fish Catching Fishes are attracted by sound waves, then captured by balls.

Fishpond When fry grows big enough, it will be released to the sea.

Leaking window acts like a “frame�to show external view and enrich spatial layers. It also lights up axis of the whole garden. Axis acts to diminish the presence of the building, by focusing at the landscape of both its ends, thus building will fade into the background.

It is located in an existing park and serves its neighborhood. The school is divided into three parts: private, semi-private and the sharing part. The private part is underground including classrooms and offices, the semi-private part is the courtyard of the school, and the sharing part includes a library, a gym, a lobby and a cafeteria.

Large and small jellyfishes embed into each other


During the daytime, people eat, rest, go fishing in the space they provide. At night, these jellyfish get back near the drain outlets,purifying this precious lake with “tentacles”.

During the day, jellyfish, scattered around the East Lake scenic area and dining area, serves the people.

During the night, jellyfish, back to the East Lake near the drainage outlet, uses “tentacles” to purify the water.
