an extension from our consciousness, is also another body of ourselves, its existence should also acknowledge the

truth

of being in the

world. The question for architecture: How can we build spaces in which we deeply and emotionally connect to relative to our existence? To study this question, the thesis project mediates man and nature. The proposed “water memorial studies architecture as it

resists,

succumbs to, and controls nature through its functional, material, and constructional aspects.

Architecture is essentially an extension of nature into the man-made realm, providing the ground for perception and the horizon of experiencing and understanding the world. It is not an isolated and self-sufficient artifact.

WA L L ASSEMBLAGE {in collaboration with Linjie Wang}

This project is an experiment testing out the properties of concrete. The mass and fluidity of concrete allowed us to create a porus wall that allows light to be filtered through softly. The apperance of the result assembly exceeds our expectations as we rotate, shift each brick creating different surface textures and lighting effect.

LEARNING CENTER A building that enables people to experience Catawba as a whole in terms of different senses. Therefore, the proposed building is set to reject the beautiful site in its interior space, transfering people's visual attention to the site to the feeling of the site by framing the view and blocking the view while bringing in weather and sound into the building.
