ART THROUGH THE LENS 2016
ANNUAL JURIED INTERNATIONAL AND REGIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
Art Through the Lens The Yeiser Art Center is pleased to host the annual international juried fine art photography competition, Art Through the Lens. Originating in 1975 as the “Paducah Summer Festival Photo Competition,” Art Through the Lens has grown from a fledgling contest into an international juried exhibition. Over the past 41 years, this exhibition has become one of the Mid-South’s most prestigious annual photographic events. To honor its history, the exhibition now exists in two parts: the International Show which features the juror’s selection and the Regional Showcase chosen by a second regional juror. We extend our sincere gratitude to our award sponsors for 2016: Crounse Corporation, Wayne Shelton & Associates, CPA/PSC, Bruce Brockenborough, Paducah School of Art and Design, and Midtown Market. Their generous contributions ensure the continuation of this Paducah legacy that showcases many artists and their recent photographic works. And of course, to the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency that provides operating support to the Yeiser Art Center with State tax dollars and federal from the National Endowment for the Arts. Congratulations to this years award winners and to everyone selected to be included in the exhibition!
Sarah Stolfa Art Through the Lens 2016, Juror Sarah Stolfa is the founder and Executive & Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Photo Art Center. Stolfa is an artist and educator with a broad range of experience, education, curatorial work, program development, administrative oversight and digital lab creation and management. She has an MFA in Photography from Yale University School of Art. In addition to teaching at PPAC, Stolfa is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. She has participated in countless group and solo shows and her work is collected both publicly and privately.
Kristina Reeves Art Through the Lens 2016 Regional Showcase Juror Entries that were not selected for the International Exhibition and came from a 100-mile radius of Paducah were automatically included in the jury process for the Regional Showcase, juried this year by Kristin Reeves, Assistant Professor of Photography at Murray State University. Twenty photographic works were selected to be on display at Maiden Alley Cinema.

I liked to give a special thanks to some people that stepped up to help make this show a reality: Sarah Hall and Drew Musgrave, our part-time staff members that put in extra long hours to unpack, inventory, install, and open the exhibition to the public. And to Rosemarie Steele, a long-time friend of the Yeiser, for helping out in the interim. Y’all rock! -- Stacey Reason, Executive Director, Yeiser Art Center
