Emergency care where it is needed. The hospital offers a symbolic and practical simplicity to a complicated and extensive system. Based upon a primitive geometry, the equilateral triangle, epitomises the tripartite of care o ed by the NHS; emergency, short term and rehabilitation. The design’s readability on the skyline enforces its strength in communicating its purpose as a beacon from which to head to in times of emergency. The three towers, each offering a different level of care, are characterised by their multi-storey garden wards. They offer green space at every level of the building and improve on the current research developed in care models. The garden wards also o er a ‘buffer’ from the roads with green walls, gardens and shrubbery establishing a level of comfort from a more conflicting site.
