A Dutch MEP, Ms Judith Sargentini, of the Green party, published an EU report this morning calling on the European Parliament to invoke Article 7 of the Lisbon Treaty against Hungary, effectively triggering the nuclear option against a member state. This woman, who has never had a proper job other than as a communications officer and then a campaigner, feels that she is qualified to write a report, hold a press conference and demand action, against the democratically elected president of Hungary. She states; “It is time that we – as the European Union – defend the values that we share as European countries.” And there’s the rub. One quarter of the parliament consists of Eurosceptic parties and Hungary’s ruling party, Fidesz sits with Merkel dominated EPP. If the EPP Germans support Sargentini then there is every chance that Fidesz may quit the EPP and then Merkel would no longer have the majority grouping. Indeed, MEP Horst Seehoefer, leader of Bavaria’s Christian Social Union (CSU), sister party of Angela Merkel’s CDU, is not supportive, stating: “Viktor Orbán clearly respects the rule of law,” and I know MEPs from the ECR, EFDD and ENF will not support her move. Sargentini criticises Hungary for its treatment of Roma. Yet all over Europe the Roma are not wanted and lack of integration is a common European problem. In the UK, our Roma have been here for 500 years and are still not integrated, which was openly admitted to me on TV by one of their representatives. Why single out Hungary? 1/2

The inconvenient truth that Sargentini overlooks is that a Fidesz MEP, Livia Jaroka, is Romani and the only female Roma MEP to be elected (there was one other man). Ms Jaroka cites many examples of Roma programmes for inclusion, why is she wrong and a foreigner with a grudge right? The extent of the hysteria in the European Union is exemplified by people like Sargentini: The politically correct whose views are only tolerated when it’s a left/liberal agenda, where they try to silence the Right with shouts of ‘xenophobia’ and ‘racist’, they are the pushers of the trans gender agenda, insisting that deeply Catholic countries in the East adopt gay marriage, abortion on demand and open Mosques to accommodate a religion that is not welcome because they fear the radicalism that has infected the West will come their way, their hatred for democracy and the rule of law when ordinary people vote against the ‘value system’ espoused by Sargentini and her ilk. Her motives are consistent with the Green/hard left/communists who promote migration, whatever the cost to the continent, our cultures, identities and our borders. Hungary voted no to EU migrant quotas being imposed upon them. Hungary voted to erect external walls to protect their borders. Hungary voted overwhelmingly for Viktor Orban. But who can blame Sargentini and her demented colleagues? They are pushing a last ditch attempt to preserve their own intolerant beliefs before the real politik of the European elections in 2019. The politics of the past few years which has seen the rise of populism in nation states does not reflect the make-up of the European Parliament elected in 2014, where the liberal elite agenda ruled. In just four years their policies on migration and social change have been dramatically rejected by nation states. In 2019, I predict that the likes of Sargentini will be severely culled by the EU electorate. And that is what they fear. Good riddance. What happens now? To ask the unelected Commission to suspend Hungary Sargentini needs to get a qualified majority, ie two thirds of the Members to support this action. Although this means sanctions can be taken against Hungary ie suspending voting rights and representation, there is no mechanism to expel a member. The vote is unlikely to take place until September.
