My peer Patricia and I meet with a predisposed group. The students are very participative and engaged with the activities Miss Sabrina gives to them. They understand and perform some actions Sabrina says in English such as , "sit down , stand up, open your folders, work in pairs, silence, listen." They work individually with photocopies or on the board and they correct the activities all together on the board. Some students pass to the front and others read the activity aloud since her or his desk. The lesson is very well 0rganized. The teacher starts the classes with a discussion about what they saw the previous class as a revision. Then they do an activity related to that . After that, she connects what they saw with the new items she wants the students to learn. The students are accostumed to work individually. They ask to the teacher if they have any doubts . They make us part of the class. They greet us and ask questions about the activities they have to do. Most of the students finish the activities before the lesson ends. They do two or three activities each class and show to the teacher to correct them. They are very responsible. They bring to the class the material the teacher asks to bring. They work in groups in order and share the materials.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the unit, students will:

     

Gain new vocabulary and verbs related to house chores through habitual actions. Interact with one another using the present tense. Recognize words related to Heroes, the time and personal pronouns. Develop oral and writing skills that will allow them to work on the final task. Appreciate and enjoy working in groups. Be encouraged develop a sense of creativity.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES TO BE USED: Plan Nº 1: Activity nº 1: : Greeting. Presentation of the theme house chores and Heroes , Do you know heroes?. We show pictures about heroes and ask the students about them. They have to match heroes with vocabulary related to heroes , colours and adjectives

Activity nº 2: Personal pronouns, heroes and house chores. The students have a copy with pictures with heroes and house chores. They have to match the heroes with the corresponding action.

Activity nº 1 : We divide the class into two groups and they have to choose one classmate per group to pass to the front. They have pictures of heroes on the board doing an action. They have to write the task they do. The group which finishes faster wins the game.

Activity nº 2 : Daily routines Wordsearch. Match the activities with the pictures. Then find them in the wordsearch.

Activity nº 3 : What the super heroes do every day? Complete the sentences about their daily routine with the verbs from the box. Discuss with your classmate what do super heroes every day and write in pairs three sentences about it. Share with the class.

Activity nº 4 : Complete the description about Wonder woman with house chores. The students have to pass to the front and stick one house chore on the poster.

A day in Superman’s life

I get up at 8 o’clock in the morning. Then I brush my teeth and wash my face. After that I have breakfast and change my pyjamas. I wash my dirty suit and my cape. I have to wash and iron them every day because my job is full time. I save lives most of the time. I fly all the time but I prefer walking. I walk with Bongo, my dog every morning. I eat healthy food at lunch time. I prefer fruits and vegetables. In my free time I watch films and I go to bed at 11 o’clock at night.

Class Nยบ 1 Date: August 16th The class starts ten past nine because the break time finishes some minutes later. The students enter the classroom and Patricia, the student teacher, greets them. She feels a little nervous because it is the first time she delivers a lesson to this group. The teacher starts the class with a warm up activity about superheroes. She sticks some pictures and words on the board and asks the students to relate superheroes with objects, adjectives and colours. The students like very much the activity. They discuss about what superheroes like most and their features. After that, they do an activity in which the students have to match the pictures about superheroes doing a house chore with the corresponding action. Before the class finishes the students and the teacher correct orally all together. Some students raise their hand for reading. The teacher can not do the last activity because there is not time to do it .The class finishes at ten to ten. The students go to the break time. The students are engaged with all the activities Patricia proposes and they participate a lot .The teacher talks in English and Spanish during the class and the students understand the tasks very well. They work orderly and they consult with his or her peer about the task they have to do.

Class Nยบ 2 Date: August 17th The class starts with the video about superheroes the students could not watch the previous day. The students watch it and they have to circle in the photocopy the superheroes they see and listen in the video. The students are very participative. They comment about the video. The video is about some superheroes performing an action of their daily routine.

Class Nยบ 3 Date: August 23rd The class starts with a warm up activity to recycle the content the students saw the previous classes. The teacher splits the class into two groups. Each group has to choose one student to pass to the front. They have to stick a picture of a superhero doing a house chore in the corresponding action. The group which finishes faster win the game. The students are very engaged with the activity. Then the teacher gives a them a copy with two activities about house chores and daily routines. First, they have to match the pictures with the activity. Second, they have to look the activities in the wordsearch. They love looking the words in the wordsearch. They are very concentrated doing it. The activity last more than twenty minutes. This activity is checked orally. Finally, the teacher gives them another copy about Wonderwoman and Superman. The students have to complete the description with a correct word from the box. The teacher gives this activity in order to acquire vocabulary about clothes related to superheroes. Before the end of the class she asks some students to read the description aloud to correct the activity. The activity last ten minutes and after that they go to the break time. Patricia greets the students until the following week because the following day they would not have classes because of the strike.

Class Nยบ 4 Date: August 30th The class starts with a revision about daily routines. The teacher writes some sentences about habitual actions on the board. The students read the sentences aloud and distinguish between the first and the third person in present simple tense. After that, Patricia gives them a photocopy about wonderwoman. They complete it all together on the board. The teacher uses a poster with the description of the daily routine of wonderwoman. The students have to complete the description with house chores. They do it aloud and they correct it all together. The teacher points someone to read each sentence. She gives a wordsearch to complete with vocabulary related to superheroes for homework.

Class Nยบ 5 Date : August 31st The class starts with a short video about the incredibles movie. The students watch the first part of the movie and then discuss about it. The video last three minutes. Then she gives a multiple choice about the part of the movie they saw another segment of it. This time they have to pay attention about it and circle the correct answers of the multiple choice. After the film they correct the multiple choice all together. The students are very engaged with the activities.

Class Nยบ 6 Date: September 7th The teacher starts the class talking about heroes, and she asks the students to tell her actions that the superheroes do every day. Some students say the actions in Spanish and others in English. They use the simple present tense to talk about habitual actions. After that, they complete a description about the incredibles family and their daily routines with the correct form of the verbs from the box. Miss Patricia sticks some pictures on the board about the incredibles family and their daily routines. The activity last fifteen minutes. Then the teacher asks if someone wants to read. Some students offer themselves to read the sentences aloud.

Self evaluation report Class N° 1 A Date: September 13th Despite the fact that I knew the students because I had been observing them through all the year , and that my peer Patricia had been teaching the students before me, I was a little nervous. Many questions came to my mind. I thought about the amount of time of each activity, the content that i had to teach, the explanations of the tasks and many other things that I had to take into account at the moment of being in front of the class. At the beginning of the class I greeted the students and I introduced myself. They entered the classroom some minutes later because of the break time. Then I did a warm up activity to revise what they had seen the previous classes. I changed the activity. Instead of divide the c lass into two groups and characterize the actions of the members of the incredible family. I sticked the pictures of the members of the family performing the actions and all together discuss about them. Some students pass to the board and write a sentence , for example: "Mr. Incredible drives the car " and they had to match the sentence with the picture. We could not watch a video about adverbs of frequency because we did not have time.

B Date: September 20th I began the class with a video about Marta and her dakily routines. The students watched it twice. The video focused on adverbs of frequency. It last more than ten minutes because the students entered the classroom later. They had to complete the description about Marta's daily routine with adverbs of frequency so, we saw the video once more because some students could not complete it. After that, I asked someone to read the description. They were very engaged and some students read. We do not have enough time so I told them to do the following activity for homework.They

could not write the paragraph about their daily routine too.However, I thought it was better to do it later in order to acquire better the content we had seen.

Class N° 2 A Date: September 21st Today it was a very difficult day at the beginning. I felt terrible because I forgot the photocopies with the activities that I had to give to the students. I talked with the teacher and she understoo me. I calmed me down and relax and I started the lesson. I changed the activities a bit. We corrected the homework all together. The students read the sentences aloud. After that, the students ordered the mixed sentences about superheroes' daily routines on the board and read them aloud.We corrected all together. We focused on the position of the adverbs of frequency. After that, the last ten minutes they wrote sentences with the words provided. I asked them to read them aloud and pass to the board to write them.

B Date: September 28th Today we began the class with a paragraph about Batman's daily routine. The students ordered the mixed sentences orally all together in order to create Batman's daily routine. After that the students created a superhero. They draw it and wrote its characteristics ,abilities and what he or she does every day. They were engaged and very creative imagining their superheroes. The activity last until the end of the class.

Class N° 3 A Date: October 4th We started the class with a comic on the board about a day in Batman's life. The students identified the actions Batman does. After that, they completed a new chart with more information about their superheroes. They started writing a comic in class about their superheroes but they finished for homework because we don't have enough time.

B Date: October 5th The last class the students had to create a comic about a day in a superhero's life to make a book to leave in the library of the school. I changed a bit the task, instead of doing in groups they created the comic in pairs. The task last until the end of the class. They were very interested in it. They revised all what they had been learning since the beginning. At the end of the class my peer and I greeted them and gave a present to them. They were very thankful with it.

Final Reflection. I am very glad with this course. The students were well predisposed and thankful with my peer and I. We made a good rapport with the students. By the time they were doing the tasks with the collaborative teacher, they asked us if they had any doubt about it. The teacher was very kind and she advised us and answered our doubts. I learned a lot about teaching and learning. Despite the fact that I am working as a teacher, I could observe the learners since another perspective. I could learn many learning strategies that the teacher uses in the classroom that I am implementing in my lessons too. The observations helped me to shape the way in which I teach ,maybe in the rhythm and the time of the activities and to focus on what i want to evaluate or what i want students learn. May be I focus on many things at the same time without paying attention that there are contents that i have to put more emphasis or to see in detail instead of remaining importance. I think that each group of students is different and that each student learns in different ways. It is a process that we have to respect and take into account the effort of the students and do not devaluate it. We have to motivate and encourage them to learn English. We have to create the conditions for a successful learning.
