EXCHANGES

October 2016 – March 2017 Yale-China offers two exchange programs, YUNA and L(U)CY, which foster academic dialogue, cultural exploration, and lasting friendships among the participants from Yale and China. Exchange participants plan during the fall for presentations and activities for their visiting counterparts. Chinese participants travel to the United States in January during the Lunar New Year break, and Yale particpants travel to China during spring break in March.

YUNA (Yale University – New Asia) Theme:

Authenticity and Modernization

Eligibility:

Sophomores and Juniors in Yale College

Exchange Size:

8 Yale students / 8 New Asia students

Duration:

2 weeks in New Haven / 2 weeks in Hong Kong / Weekly fall meetings

Presentation Format:

Pairs of Yale students present in Hong Kong on theme-related issues in the United States; pairs of New Asia students present in New Haven on theme-related issues in Hong Kong.

L(U)CY (Lingnan (University) College – Yale) Theme:

Corporate Social Responsibility in a Globalizing World

Eligibility:

All students in Yale College

Exchange Size:

12 Yale students / 18 Lingnan students

Duration:

5 days in New Haven / 1 week in Guangzhou / Regular meetings in the fall

Presentation Format:

Teams of two Yale students and three Lingnan students each work together on a theme-related project. After collaborating remotely during the fall, teams will finalize their work in person during the Lingnan's students' visit to New Haven. Final presentations will be given before a panel of industry experts in Guangzhou.

INTERNSHIPS Yale-China Office Internships: Academic Year 2016-2017 Yale-China offers four New Haven-based internships to develop creative and professional skills in a fast-paced environment. Interns work directly with the Arts, Education and Health staff to craft exhibitions, develop marketing projects, and produce community events to gain a greater understanding of international nonprofit administration and management. Theme:

Community Service Exchange Internships: Summer 2017 Yale-China’s summer internships allow interns to experience and examine an area of interest from two different cultural perspectives by interning in both countries and by living and working with a partner from the other culture. Placements are at nonprofit organizations in New Haven and in China.

FELLOWSHIPS Yale-China Teaching Fellowship: June 2017 – July 2019 Join Yale-China's most prestigious and long-standing fellowship program. Yale-China selects highly qualified Yale graduates to undertake challenging and rewarding two year assignments in mainland China and Hong Kong. Gaining cross-cultural fluency and leadership skills, Fellows are immersed in their Chinese communities. Ongoing professional support from Yale-China staff and post-fellowship career mentoring by members of the deeply committed Yale-China community are special features of this unique and exceptional opportunity.

Guizishan Fellowship: June 2017 – July 2018 The Yale-China CCNU Guizishan Fellowship is joint initiative of the Yale-China Association and Central China Normal University (CCNU) that is intended to deepen Fellows' understanding of China through collaboration and partnership. Each Guizishan Fellow carries out an individualized program of inquiry in any field or area of interest supported by a year-long appointment at CCNU in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Fellows also teach a half-time course load at CCNU. This fellowship is geared toward those who already have substantial experience living in China and can easily operate in written and spoken Chinese. Yale-China Association Student Opportunities 2017-2018
