lower school news class spotlight: Mrs. Lenet’s 1st Grade
Haschalas Alef Bais
Welcome Back!! Mrs. Lenet’s 1st grade boys have slipped back into the first grade routine with a flurry of eagerness and fabulous enthusiasm. We began the week with scrumptious snow cones graciously provided by the PTA. As our adventures of the new and improved campus continues the boys were learning about the adventures of Christopher Columbus. Just as Columbus explored the ‘New World’ and all it had to offer so too did the first grade boys. They were finally able to explore the new first grade playground!
Mazel Tov to our 4 year old nursery classes on their Haschalas Alef Bais! The boys all came in white shirts for this special occasion and were adorned in beautiful gold crowns. Rabbi Kahana addressed the boys on this momentous occasion. We look forward to much nachas from the boys as they embark on their limudim!
class spotlight: Mrs. Kaplan-Nadel’s 2nd Grade In preparation for Sukkos, the boys in Mrs. Kaplan-Nadel’s 2nd grade class made leaf cutout pictures in the style of Henri Matisse. The 2nd graders first heard the story of the famous artist in the picture book “Henri’s Scissors”. It explained how Henri Matisse was no longer able to paint in his later years, yet he figured out how to to attach chalk on a pole to draw pictures of his grandchildren on his ceiling while bedridden. He also used scissors to cut out shapes in a new art form that he was able to do while in his wheelchair. His perseverance and creativity were quite inspiring and led to wonderfully creative works by the boys! They arranged their cut out leaves in interesting ways and their bright designs must have been beautiful additions to their sukkahs!

class spotlight: Rabbi Slansky’s and Rabbi Zelinger’s 4th Grades The talmidim in Rabbi Slansky’s and Rabbi Zelinger’s 4th grade classes used their leftover esrogim from Sukkos to design beautiful esrog-besamim creations. By doing this fun activity, they were able to learn about the idea that once an object is used for a mitzvah, you should try to perform another mitzvah with the same object. The boys did a wonderful job making their unique creations!
middle school news
Mock Bar Mitzvah Seudah On Tuesday, the 7th grade students had the opportunity to be part of a “Mock Bar-Mitzvah Seudah”. This is part of the Middle School’s ongoing goal for our boys to master the 3 “R’s”, Responsibility, Respect and Readiness in all facets of their school day. Together with the Menahel, Rabbi Yaakov Schwartz, Rabbi Yakov Majeski, and Rabbi Kipper, Rabbi Berkowitz, Rabbi Ciment, Rabbi Cohen, Rabbi Feder and Rabbi Landa, they reviewed the appropriate procedures and derech eretz of how to make a Bar Mitzvah an enjoyable and positive experience for all. The boys gathered in the MPR for a fleishig buffet lunch which was served by our students. After the seudah they all joined at the dance floor for some dance lessons! The mock Bar Mitzvah seudah is always a fun and popular program that the boys gain from immensely. The boys did an exceptional job during this event and it was truly a pleasure! TA is confident in the ability of our talmidim to celebrate their upcoming simchos with derech eretz and respect for all.
Mazel Tov to our Bar Mitzvah Boys! We welcome the following talmidim as proud members of Klal Yisrael’s Chevra Tefillin. We wish you continued growth in Torah and Yiras Shamayim!

dvar chizuk Rabbi Nachman Kahana, Lower School Menahel The Yomim Tovim have finished and we are ready for the long, arduous winter. I once read about two individuals - one a more refined, educated and successful man and one not so successful or educated. They both go to a very ritzy hotel and ask for the best suite available. After two weeks of feasting on the best room service and using all of the amenities of the hotel, they received their bills. Both men were unable to pay such a staggering amount. The hotel manager was very upset. Neither of the men ever gave any indication that they would not be able to cover all the things they purchased. He insisted they either pay or they would be arrested. The first man told the manager he was a successful dance choreographer and that he could perform for his patrons. The other man asked if he could dance as well – he was a clown. The manager decided to try it. If the patrons liked the performances, he would hire them until their bill was covered. The professional dancer was very well-liked by the patrons. They enjoyed his performance very much and his bill was soon taken care of. The clown imitated the professional dancer and everyone roared with laughter and he too was successful in paying his bill. This is what Simchas Torah was all about. We come to Hashem after a year of receiving such marvelous gifts, unable to pay our “bill”. Hashem in his everlasting kindness, allows us to ‘pay him back’ with dance! What an unbelievable chessed that Hashem does for us! Carpool Board
